  3. Air Supply Connection: Connect your external air compressor to the air inlet on the machine. The CUT-50D has a built-in air pressure regulator, so no additional installation is required for this component. Ensure the air supply is clean and dry. 2T/4T Function and No Installation Required for air regulator

Image: Illustration of the 2T/4T function and the built-in air pressure regulator requiring no additional installation.

  4. Torch and Earth Clamp Connection:
    • Connect the plasma torch cable to the Gas-Electric Connector (1) on the front panel.
    • Connect the torch switch cable to the Torch Switch Connector (3).
    • Connect the earth clamp cable to the Earth Clamp Connector (4). Securely attach the earth clamp to the workpiece or work table, ensuring good electrical contact.
  5. Consumables: Ensure the correct nozzle and electrode are installed in the plasma torch.

6. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Flip the Power Switch (7) on the rear panel to the 'ON' position. The 'Power On' indicator on the LED display should light up.
  2. Adjust Air Pressure: Use the Air Pressure Adjustment Button (10) to set the desired air pressure. The recommended gas pressure range is 45-60 PSI. The preset air pressure allows for quick startup. Non-Touch Pilot Arc feature, cutting thickness 16mm at 60PSI

Image: Demonstrates the non-touch pilot arc and cutting thickness at 60 PSI.

  3. Set Cutting Current: Adjust the cutting current (Amperage) according to the material type and thickness. The output current range is up to 50A.
  4. Cutting Process:
    • Non-Touch Pilot Arc: The CUT-50D features a non-touch pilot arc, which allows for cutting without direct contact between the torch tip and the workpiece. This extends consumable life.
    • 2T/4T Function: The machine supports 2T (Two-Touch) and 4T (Four-Touch) functions for torch activation. 2T requires holding the trigger for the duration of the cut, while 4T allows for continuous cutting without holding the trigger down after initial activation.
    • Position the torch over the starting point of the cut.
    • Activate the torch. The pilot arc will initiate.
    • Move the torch steadily along the desired cut line. Maintain a consistent speed and standoff distance for optimal cut quality.
  5. Material Compatibility: The CUT-50D is suitable for cutting various metals: More Cut Material: Carbon Steel, Aluminium, Stainless Steel

The machine offers a clean cut thickness of 12mm (0.47") and a maximum cut thickness of 20mm (0.78"). For optimal results, a cutting thickness of 16mm (0.63") at 60 PSI is achievable.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your plasma cutter.

  • Air Compressor Filter (Oil-Water Separator): Regularly check and drain any accumulated moisture or oil from the air compressor filter (5). A clean and dry air supply is crucial for cut quality and consumable life.
  • Torch Consumables: Inspect the nozzle, electrode, and shield cup regularly. Replace them when they show signs of wear or damage to maintain cut quality and prevent torch damage.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the machine clean and free of dust, metal particles, and debris. Use compressed air to blow out internal components periodically, ensuring the cooling fan (9) is unobstructed.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables (power, torch, earth clamp) for cuts, fraying, or damage. Replace any damaged cables immediately.

8. Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.

8.1. LED Display Indicators

Refer to the LED Digital Screen Display section (4.2) for the meaning of warning indicators. If an indicator lights up, take the following actions:

  • Under-voltage Protection: Check your power supply. Ensure it provides stable 220V. If using an extension cord, ensure it is heavy-duty and rated for the machine's power requirements.
  • Overcurrent Protection: Turn off the machine and allow it to cool. Check for any short circuits in the torch or cables. Reduce the cutting current if it's set too high for the application.
  • Overheat Protection: Turn off the machine and allow it to cool down completely. Ensure the cooling fan (9) is not obstructed and there is adequate airflow around the machine.
