Setup Instructions

1. Battery Installation

For the Floating Sensor (Transmitter):

  1. Unscrew the top cover of the floating sensor.
  2. Carefully remove the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 2 x AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and securely screw the top cover back on to maintain waterproofing.

For the Receiver Unit:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the receiver unit.
  2. Insert 2 x AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.

2. Pairing the Units

After installing batteries in both units:

  1. On the floating sensor (transmitter), set the channel selector switch (1, 2, or 3) to your desired transmission channel. If using multiple sensors, ensure each is on a different channel.
  2. Set the temperature preview unit (°C/°F) on the transmitter if applicable (Type 1).
  3. Place the receiver and the transmitter close to each other (within 2-3 minutes of battery installation). The units should automatically connect. Do not move them until the connection is established and readings appear on the receiver.

3. Placement

Floating Sensor:

  • Place the floating sensor directly into the water body you wish to monitor (e.g., swimming pool, hot tub, aquarium).
  • Ensure it floats freely and is not obstructed. Some models include a traction line to prevent it from drifting too far.

Receiver Unit:

  • Place the receiver unit indoors, within the wireless transmission range (up to 200 feet / 60 meters from the sensor).
  • Avoid placing the receiver near large metal objects, electronic devices, or thick walls that may interfere with the wireless signal.

Operation

Display Overview

The LCD screen on the receiver unit typically displays:

  • Current Time (12/24Hr format)
  • Indoor Temperature and Humidity
  • Water Temperature (from the floating sensor)
  • Max/Min recorded temperatures and humidity
  • Water Temperature Comfort Indicator (LOW, OK, HIGH)
  • Channel indicator (if multiple sensors are used)

Buttons and Functions (Type 1)

The receiver unit features several function keys:

  • MODE: To switch between display modes or enter settings.
  • MEM: To view maximum and minimum recorded values for indoor temperature, humidity, and outdoor temperature. Press again to cycle through values.
  • +/CH: To adjust values during settings or switch between channels (CH1, CH2, CH3) if multiple sensors are connected.
  • -/RCC: To adjust values during settings or manually initiate Radio Controlled Clock (RCC) synchronization (if applicable).
  • LIGHT/SNZ/AL-on/off: To activate the backlight (10 seconds), snooze an alarm, or turn an alarm on/off.

Water Temperature Comfort Reminder (Type 1)

The display provides a visual indicator for water temperature comfort:

  • LOW: Water temperature is below 20℃ (68℉).
  • OK: Water temperature is between 20℃ (68℉) and 30℃ (86℉).
  • HIGH: Water temperature is above 30℃ (86℉).

Multi-Channel Monitoring

Some models (Type 1 and Type 2) support connecting up to three floating sensors to monitor different water bodies simultaneously. Use the CH button on the receiver to cycle through the channels (CH1, CH2, CH3) and view the temperature from each corresponding sensor.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the receiver unit with a soft, dry cloth. For the floating sensor, clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then rinse thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both units when the low voltage indicator appears on the display or when readings become erratic. Always replace all batteries at once with new ones of the same type.
  • Waterproofing: Regularly inspect the silicone waterproof rubber ring on the floating sensor for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure it is clean and properly seated when closing the battery compartment to maintain its IP67 rating (Type 1) or optimized sealing (Type 2).
  • Storage: If storing the thermometer for an extended period, remove all batteries to prevent leakage and corrosion.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No display on receiver.Dead or incorrectly installed batteries.Replace batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
No water temperature reading / "---" on display.
  • Sensor batteries dead.
  • Out of wireless range.
  • Interference from other electronics.
  • Sensor and receiver not properly paired.
  • Replace sensor batteries.
  • Move receiver closer to the sensor.
  • Relocate receiver away from sources of interference.
  • Re-pair the units by reinstalling batteries in both and ensuring they are close during initial setup.
Inaccurate temperature readings.
  • Sensor not fully submerged.
  • Sensor placed in direct sunlight (for water temp).
  • Receiver placed in direct sunlight or near heat source (for indoor temp).
  • Ensure sensor is fully submerged.
  • Relocate sensor to a shaded area if possible.
  • Move receiver to a stable indoor environment away from direct heat/cold sources.
Water inside the floating sensor.Improperly sealed battery compartment or damaged seal.Immediately remove batteries, dry the unit thoroughly. Check and replace the rubber seal if damaged. Ensure the cover is tightly screwed on.

User Tips

  • For optimal wireless signal, ensure a clear line of sight between the floating sensor and the indoor receiver. Avoid placing the receiver behind large appliances or thick walls.
  • If using the thermometer in an outdoor pool, consider using the traction line (if provided with your model) to keep the sensor from drifting into skimmers or other areas where it might get stuck.
  • To prolong battery life, activate the backlight only when necessary.
  • When setting up multiple sensors, assign each to a unique channel (CH1, CH2, CH3) to prevent interference and ensure accurate readings for each water body.
