4. Setup
4.1 Adding Engine Oil
Before first use, the generator must be filled with engine oil. Refer to the specifications section for the recommended oil type and capacity.
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Locate and open the oil fill access panel (refer to Figure 3.2).
- Unscrew and remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Carefully add the recommended engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30) using a funnel until the oil level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
- Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick and close the access panel.
4.2 Adding Fuel
Use only fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 or other ethanol blends exceeding 10%.
- Ensure the generator is turned OFF and has cooled down.
- Locate the fuel cap on top of the generator (refer to Figure 3.3).
- Unscrew the fuel cap.
- Carefully pour gasoline into the fuel tank, leaving a small space for expansion. Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.
4.3 Grounding the Generator
For safety, always ground the generator before operation. Connect a ground wire from the generator's ground terminal to an appropriate grounding rod or approved grounding source.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Generator
- Ensure the generator is on a level surface and all electrical loads are disconnected.
- Turn the Fuel Shut Off valve to the "ON" position.
- Turn the Power Switch to the "ON" position.
- If starting a cold engine, move the Choke lever to the "START" position. For a warm engine, move it to "RUN".
- Pull the recoil starter handle firmly and smoothly until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, slowly move the Choke lever to the "RUN" position.
- Allow the generator to run for a few minutes to warm up before connecting electrical devices.
5.2 Eco-Mode Operation
The Eco-Mode switch (refer to Figure 3.1) allows the generator to automatically adjust engine speed to match the load, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise levels. Flip the Eco-Mode switch to "ON" for quieter operation and better fuel economy when running lighter loads. For full power output, switch Eco-Mode to "OFF".
5.3 Connecting Electrical Devices
Once the generator is running stably, you can connect your electrical devices to the appropriate outlets. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's rated output.
- AC 120V Outlets: Plug in standard household appliances.
- DC 12V Outlet: Connect 12V DC compatible devices.
- DC 5V USB Outlets: Use the 1A or 2.1A ports to charge smartphones, tablets, and other USB-powered devices.
5.4 Parallel Connection (Optional)
This generator features parallel connect terminals, allowing you to link two compatible WEN inverter generators for increased power output. Refer to the separate parallel connection kit instructions for detailed setup procedures.
5.5 Stopping the Generator
- Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
- Allow the generator to run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
- Turn the Power Switch to the "OFF" position.
- Turn the Fuel Shut Off valve to the "OFF" position to prevent fuel from entering the carburetor during storage.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your generator. Always ensure the generator is OFF and cooled before performing any maintenance.
