2.3 Software Installation

Install the HIKROBOT MVS software or any third-party software that complies with the GigE Vision protocol on your host computer. Ensure your operating system is compatible (32/64-bit Windows XP/7/10, 64-bit Windows 11, 32/64-bit Linux, and 64-bit MacOS).

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Operation

Once the camera is physically installed and connected, launch the imaging software. The software should detect the camera via the GigE interface. You can then configure various parameters to suit your imaging needs.

3.2 Image Configuration

  • Image Mode: The camera supports 1-Line image mode.
  • Pixel Format: Select the desired pixel format from Bayer RG 8, RGB 8, BGR 8, or Mono 8.
  • Exposure Time: Adjust the exposure time between 3 μs and 10 ms to control image brightness.
  • Shutter Mode: Choose between Off, Once, or Continuous exposure modes. The camera also supports trigger-width exposure.
  • Gain: Adjust the gain settings (1.0x, 2.0x, 4.0x) to amplify the signal, which can be useful in low-light conditions.
  • Binning: Utilize binning options (1x1, 1x2, 1x4, 2x1, 2x2, 2x4, 4x1, 4x2, 4x4) to combine pixels, which can increase sensitivity and frame rate at the cost of resolution.
  • Mirroring: The camera supports horizontal reverse image output.
  • ISP Functions: Leverage integrated ISP functions such as Gamma correction and Flat Field Correction (FFC) to enhance image quality and correct for sensor non-uniformities.

3.3 Triggering

The camera supports both internal and external triggering. For external triggering, you can configure line trigger, frame trigger, or a combination of line + frame trigger via the digital I/O lines.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the camera's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. For the lens and sensor, use specialized optical cleaning solutions and cloths to avoid scratches or damage. Always follow lens manufacturer guidelines for cleaning.

4.2 Environmental Conditions

To ensure optimal performance and longevity, operate the camera within the specified environmental conditions:

  • Working Temperature: -20 °C to 50 °C (-4 °F to 122 °F)
  • Storage Temperature: -30 °C to 80 °C (-22 °F to 176 °F)
  • Humidity: 5%~90%RH without condensation

The camera has an IP40 protection grade, which means it is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm. Ensure proper lens installation and wiring to maintain this protection level.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HIKROBOT MV-CL043-A1GC camera, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

5.1 Connectivity Issues

  • Camera Not Detected: Verify that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the camera and the host computer. Check network settings on your computer to ensure proper GigE Vision communication. Confirm the camera is receiving power.
  • Intermittent Connection: Ensure the Ethernet cable is of high quality and suitable for industrial environments. Check for any loose connections or damaged cables.

5.2 Image Quality Problems

  • Dark or Bright Images: Adjust the exposure time and gain settings in your imaging software. Ensure adequate lighting for your application.
  • Noisy Images: Reduce gain if possible. Check for proper grounding to minimize electrical noise.
  • Image Artifacts: Utilize the camera's built-in ISP functions like Flat Field Correction (FFC) to compensate for sensor non-uniformities. Ensure the lens is clean and free from dust or smudges.

5.3 Software Related Issues

  • Software Crashes/Freezes: Ensure your imaging software (MVS or third-party) is up-to-date and compatible with your operating system. Check for sufficient system resources (RAM, CPU).
  • Parameter Configuration Errors: Refer to the software's user manual for detailed instructions on configuring camera parameters.
