4. Setup

4.1. Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the USB charger to a power source.
  2. Connect the Type-C end of the charger to the charging port on the radio.
  3. The radio's indicator light will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).
  4. Charge the battery fully before first use (approximately 8 hours for a full charge).

4.2. Attaching the Antenna

Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is firmly seated.

4.3. Attaching the Belt Clip

Align the belt clip with the screw holes on the back of the radio and secure it with the provided screws.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to turn the radio ON. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume and turn the radio OFF.

5.2. Channel Selection

Rotate the Channel knob to select the desired communication channel (1-16).

5.3. Transmitting and Receiving

  • To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) key. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT key to stop transmitting.
  • To Receive: Ensure the PTT key is not pressed. The radio will automatically receive signals on the selected channel.

5.4. Decoding Function

This feature allows the radio to decode frequencies from another walkie-talkie.

  1. Switch the radio to Channel 1.
  2. Long press the PTT (Transmit) key and Side Key 1 simultaneously to power on the radio.
  3. The green light will flash, indicating the radio is in decoding mode.
  4. When the radio under test transmits, your XF-888S will automatically decode the frequency and move to the next channel.
  5. After decoding all 16 channels, press the PTT key to save the decoded frequencies.

5.5. Wireless Transmission Operation Mode

This mode allows for wireless programming/transmission of settings.

  1. Switch the radio to Channel 2.
  2. Long press the PTT key and Side Key 1 simultaneously to start the transmission mode. The red light will illuminate.
  3. To exit this mode, long press the PTT key on the wireless transmitting machine.

5.6. Wireless Receiving Operation Mode

This mode allows the radio to receive settings wirelessly.

  1. Switch the radio to Channel 3.
  2. Long press the PTT key and Side Key 1 simultaneously to power on and enter the receiving mode.
  3. The green light will turn on, and a beep will sound when receiving is completed.

5.7. Manual Language Switching (Chinese/English)

  1. Switch the radio to Channel 15.
  2. Turn the radio OFF.
  3. Long press the PTT (Transmit) button and Side Button 1 simultaneously to start the radio. The language will switch.

5.8. Other Features

  • 50 CTCSS / 105 CDCSS: Provides enhanced privacy and reduces interference.
  • VOX Function: Voice-activated transmission, allowing hands-free operation.
  • Voice Prompt: Audible alerts for channel changes and other functions.
