Setup and Initial Winding

Your OLEVS 6701 is an automatic mechanical watch. It is powered by the movement of your wrist and does not require a battery. For initial use or after the watch has stopped, it needs to be manually wound.

  1. Manual Winding: To start the watch, turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times while it is in its normal (pushed-in) position. This will build up a power reserve.
  2. Setting the Time:Watch side view with crown and adjustment buttons labeled

    • Pull the crown out to the second position (farthest out).
    • Turn the crown to adjust the hour and minute hands.
    • Push the crown back in to secure the time.
  3. Setting the Date and Day:
    • Date Adjustment: Use the Date adjustment knob (lower dark button on the left side of the watch) to set the correct date.
    • Day Adjustment: Use the Monthly adjustment Dark Knob (upper dark button on the left side of the watch) to set the correct day of the week.
    • Year/Month Window: The year/month window is a multi-function display.

Operating Your Watch

The OLEVS 6701 features an automatic self-wind mechanical movement. This means the watch is powered by the natural motion of your arm. When worn regularly, it will continuously wind itself.

  • Power Reserve: If the watch is not worn for an extended period (typically 36-48 hours), it will stop. Simply manually wind it as described in the "Setup" section to restart it.
  • Skeleton Flywheel: The openwork see-through design of the skeleton flywheel allows you to observe the intricate mechanical movement, showcasing the craftsmanship.Close-up of the watch dial showing the skeleton flywheel

  • Luminous Function: The watch hands and markers are equipped with a high-definition luminescent coating, providing strong luminescence for easy time reading in low-light conditions.Watch dial glowing in the dark, demonstrating luminous function

Care and Maintenance

  • Water Resistance: This watch is 30 meters (3ATM) water resistant. This means it is suitable for daily use, splash/rain resistant. It is NOT suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkeling, or water-related work. Avoid exposure to warm or hot water, as this can compromise the sealed waterproof ring.Watch submerged in a glass of water, labeled 'Waterproof'

  • Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and strap with a soft, dry cloth regularly to remove dirt and sweat. For the stainless steel band, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry one.
  • Avoid Shocks: While the watch is shock resistant, avoid strong impacts or dropping the watch, as this can damage the delicate internal mechanisms.
  • Magnetic Fields: Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones) as they can affect the accuracy of mechanical movements.
  • Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, as this can affect its performance and longevity.

Troubleshooting

Watch is not running or stops frequently:
  • Insufficient Winding: As an automatic watch, it needs sufficient movement to stay wound. If you don't wear it daily or have a sedentary lifestyle, manually wind the watch daily (30-40 turns of the crown).
  • Low Power Reserve: Ensure the watch has been fully wound.
  • Damage: If the issue persists after proper winding, the movement might be damaged. Consult a professional watch repair service.
Date/Day not changing correctly:
  • Time Zone: Ensure the time is set correctly, especially AM/PM. The date and day typically change around midnight.
  • Manual Adjustment: Re-adjust the date and day using the respective pushers on the side of the watch.
Inaccurate timekeeping:
  • Magnetization: The watch might be magnetized. Keep it away from strong magnetic sources. A watchmaker can demagnetize it.
  • Service Needed: Mechanical watches require periodic servicing (every 3-5 years) to maintain accuracy.

User Tips

  • Strap Adjustment: The metal strap can be adjusted by removing links to achieve a comfortable fit. It is recommended to have this done by a professional jeweler or watch repair shop if you do not have the correct tools.
  • Roman Numeral 'IIII': The use of 'IIII' for the number four on the watch dial, instead of 'IV', is a traditional and common stylistic choice in horology, often referred to as the "watchmaker's four." This is not an error in design.
  • Functional Subdials: The subdials for date and day of the week are fully functional and can be adjusted independently using the side pushers.
