SINGCALL APE80 Wireless Signal Amplifier User Manual

Model: APE80 | Brand: SINGCALL

1. Product Overview

The SINGCALL APE80 is a wireless signal amplifier designed to extend the receiving distance of a calling system. It acts as a repeater, ensuring that signals from call buttons (pagers) reach the receivers effectively, especially in larger areas or environments with signal obstructions. The device can be configured to transmit signals from all connected call buttons or only from specific registered ones.

4. Setup Instructions

4.1. Power Connection

  1. First, electrify the power adapter by plugging it into a suitable power outlet.
  2. Then, connect the power adapter to the 'Supply hub' (power plug) on the APE80 amplifier. The Power light should illuminate.

4.2. Antenna Adjustment

  1. Draw out both antennas from the amplifier.
  2. Adjust the antennas so that the angle between each antenna and the ground is approximately 45 degrees (upward).
  3. The optimal length of the antennas may vary depending on the environment. Please check and adjust the length during installation for the best performance.

4.3. Initializing the Amplifier

  1. Press and hold the 'Initialize' key for approximately one second. The Initialize light will turn on.
  2. Release the key and wait. The initialization process is complete when the Initialize light turns off.

4.4. Selecting the Installation Position

Proper placement is crucial for optimal signal amplification. Consider the following methods:

Method A: Intermediate Position

  1. Place the amplifier in an intermediate position between the receiver and the farthest call button.
  2. Press the farthest call button.
  3. If the receiver successfully receives the signal, fix the amplifier in that position.
  4. If the receiver does not receive the signal, hold the registered call button and slowly move the amplifier from the receiver towards the farthest call button, continuously pressing the call button until the receiver receives the signal. This is the ideal position to fix the amplifier.

Method B: Using the 'Call' Key

  1. Register the 'Call' key of the amplifier into the receiver (refer to the receiver's manual for registration instructions).
  2. Move the amplifier from the receiver towards the farthest call button, continuously pressing the 'Call' key on the amplifier.
  3. The best location for the amplifier is the point where the receiver *stops* receiving the signal from the amplifier. If the area where the receiver cannot receive the signal is known, that location is the best place to fix the amplifier.

Special Note: If another amplifier is already installed, ensure it is turned OFF when registering new pagers or changing pager numbers to avoid interference.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Registering Call Buttons

The amplifier has a capacity for up to 300 call buttons.

  1. Press and hold the 'Register' key for approximately one second. The Registration light will turn on.
  2. While the Registration light is on, press the call button that you wish to register.
  3. If the Registration light blinks, the registration is successful.
  4. If the call button was already registered, the Registration light will not blink.
  5. To exit registration mode, press and hold the 'Register' key for approximately one second until the Registration light turns off.

5.2. Signal Transmitting Mode Setting

The amplifier can operate in two signal transmitting modes:

Mode 1: Transmitting Signals of All Call Buttons

  1. Ensure the Mode indicator light is ON.
  2. Press and hold the 'Mode' key for approximately one second.
  3. Release the key when the Mode light turns OFF. In this mode, the amplifier will transmit signals from all call buttons in use.

Mode 2: Transmitting Signals of Registered Call Buttons Only

  1. Ensure the Mode indicator light is OFF.
  2. Press and hold the 'Mode' key for approximately one second.
  3. Release the key when the Mode light turns OFF. In this mode, the amplifier will only transmit signals from call buttons that have been specifically registered to it.

5.3. Indicator Light Status

  • Powered On: Red lights flashing.
  • Receiving Signal: Yellow lights flashing.
  • Transmitting Signal: Green lights flashing.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep the device dry and avoid exposure to moisture to prevent circuit oxidation.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the product yourself. Unauthorized disassembly may cause damage and void the warranty.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Signal Amplification:
    • Ensure the power adapter is properly connected and the Power light is on.
    • Verify that the antennas are correctly extended and angled at 45 degrees.
    • Re-evaluate the installation position using Method A or B described in Section 4.4.
    • Check for potential interference sources (see Section 8.1).
  • Registration Light Not Blinking: If the registration light does not blink after pressing a call button, it indicates that the call button has already been registered.
  • Abnormal Device Behavior: If you encounter any abnormal behavior or malfunction, do not attempt to repair the device yourself. Contact customer service engineers for assistance.
  • Reduced Receiving Distance: The receiving distance can be influenced by weather conditions. Extreme weather may temporarily reduce performance.

8. Cautions and Safety Information

8.1. Interference Sources

To ensure optimal performance and prevent interference, keep the wireless calling products away from the following:

  • Base stations of mobile equipment.
  • Refrigerators, air conditioners, and other high-powered electric appliances.
  • Large ultrasonic equipment in hospitals.

8.2. General Safety Guidelines

  • To avoid static electricity, it is recommended to install the amplifier on a physical wall and ensure no part of the human body comes into contact with the device during operation.
  • Always use the original power adapter provided with the device. Using a non-original adapter may seriously affect product performance and could lead to damage, for which the user will be responsible.
  • Ensure the antennas are positioned at a 45-degree angle and do not touch any other objects to maintain signal integrity.
