Setup

1. Initial Winding

As an automatic mechanical watch, it is powered by the motion of your wrist. However, for the first use or after the watch has stopped, it is recommended to manually wind it:

  • Ensure the crown is in position 1 (fully pushed in).
  • Rotate the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will provide sufficient power reserve to start the watch.
  • The watch will then continue to wind itself with your daily wrist movements.

2. Setting Time and Date

  1. **Setting the Date:** Pull the crown out to position 2 (first click). Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this is when the date change mechanism is active and could be damaged.
  2. **Setting the Time:** Pull the crown out to position 3 (second click). Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands. Set the time to the desired hour, ensuring the AM/PM is correct for the date change. Push the crown back to position 1 (fully pushed in) to start the watch.

3. Adjusting the Band

The stainless steel band can be adjusted by removing or adding links. It is recommended to have this done by a professional watchmaker to prevent damage to the band or clasp mechanism.

Operating Your Watch

Automatic Movement

Your OLEVS 6650 watch features an automatic self-winding mechanical movement. This means it does not require a battery. The movement of your wrist during daily activities powers the watch. If worn regularly (8-10 hours a day), it will maintain its power reserve. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it may stop and will need to be manually wound as described in the 'Initial Winding' section.

Luminous Display

The watch hands and hour markers are coated with a luminous material, allowing you to read the time in low-light conditions. Exposure to light (natural or artificial) will charge the luminous elements, causing them to glow in the dark.

Rotating Bezel

The unidirectional rotating bezel can be used for timing events up to 60 minutes. Align the bezel's zero marker with the minute hand at the start of an event. The minute hand's position on the bezel will then indicate the elapsed time.

Water Resistance (3ATM/30m)

This watch is rated for 3ATM (30 meters) water resistance. This means it is suitable for daily use, such as hand washing, rain, or accidental splashes. It is NOT suitable for swimming, diving, showering, or any water sports where it might be submerged for extended periods or exposed to high-pressure water.

Maintenance

  • **Cleaning:** Wipe your watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. For the stainless steel band, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying.
  • **Water Resistance:** Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance. Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes (e.g., hot shower immediately followed by cold water), as this can compromise seals.
  • **Avoid Shocks:** Mechanical watches are delicate. Avoid dropping the watch or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • **Magnetic Fields:** Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, certain electronic devices), as magnetism can affect the accuracy of the mechanical movement.
  • **Servicing:** Mechanical watches benefit from periodic servicing (typically every 3-5 years) by a qualified watchmaker to ensure optimal performance and lubrication of moving parts.

Troubleshooting

  • **Watch Stopped/Running Slow:** If the watch has stopped or is running significantly slow, it likely needs more power. Manually wind the watch 30-40 times (as described in 'Initial Winding') and wear it regularly.
  • **Date Not Changing:** Ensure the time is set correctly, especially the AM/PM cycle. If the date changes at noon, you have set the time 12 hours incorrectly. Advance the time by 12 hours.
  • **Condensation Inside Crystal:** If you notice condensation under the watch crystal, it indicates a breach in the water resistance. Stop using the watch immediately and have it inspected by a professional watchmaker to prevent further damage to the movement.
  • **Inaccurate Timekeeping:** Minor variations in timekeeping are normal for mechanical watches. However, if the watch is consistently gaining or losing a significant amount of time (e.g., more than +/- 30 seconds per day), it may require adjustment by a professional.

User Tips

  • For consistent timekeeping, try to wear your automatic watch daily or invest in a watch winder if you rotate watches frequently.
  • When setting the date, always adjust it to the day before the current date, then advance the time past midnight to reach the correct date. This helps prevent damage to the date mechanism.
  • If your watch has a screw-down crown, ensure it is securely tightened after any adjustments to maintain water resistance.
  • Avoid leaving your watch in direct sunlight or extreme cold for prolonged periods, as this can affect lubricants and seals.
