1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the WEIKAV NUT108 Mechanical Keyboard Kit. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your new keyboard. The NUT108 is a high-performance, customizable mechanical keyboard featuring a 108-key layout, tri-mode connectivity (wired, 2.4G, Bluetooth), a gasket-mounted design, hot-swappable switches, and a durable aluminum body. It is designed for both office and gaming use, offering a premium typing experience.

2. Safety Warnings

  • Do not use the keyboard in damp environments to prevent electric leakage.
  • Avoid applying excessive pressure on the keyboard to prevent damage to internal components.
  • Do not disassemble the keyboard yourself, as this may void the warranty.
  • Prevent liquids from entering the gaps between keys.
  • Avoid striking keys with excessive force to prevent damage.

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Assembly (if applicable)

The NUT108 is a kit, meaning switches and keycaps may need to be installed. Ensure the keyboard is powered off before installing switches or keycaps.

  1. Carefully align each mechanical switch with the hot-swap socket on the PCB and press down until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  2. Place the desired keycaps onto the installed switches, pressing gently until they are secure.

4.2 Connecting the Keyboard

The NUT108 supports three connection modes: Wired, 2.4G Wireless, and Bluetooth.

Wired Connection:

  1. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the keyboard's port.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. The keyboard will be automatically recognized by your system.

2.4G Wireless Connection:

  1. Locate the 2.4G USB receiver (usually stored in a magnetic compartment on the keyboard).
  2. Plug the 2.4G USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Switch the keyboard to 2.4G mode using the mode switch (refer to the keyboard's physical layout for exact switch location). The keyboard should automatically connect.

Bluetooth Connection:

  1. Switch the keyboard to Bluetooth mode using the mode switch.
  2. On your computer or device, open Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
  3. Select "WEIKAV NUT108" (or similar name) from the list of available devices to pair.
  4. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.

4.3 Initial Charging

The keyboard features a 10000mAh large capacity battery. For optimal performance, it is recommended to fully charge the keyboard before its first wireless use. Connect the keyboard via the USB Type-C cable to a computer or a standard USB charger.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Key Functions

The NUT108 is a 108-key full-size layout keyboard. Simply press the keys to input text or perform operations as you would with any standard keyboard.

5.2 Backlight Control

The keyboard supports multi-mode backlight adjustment and features a new optimized double light bar for dynamic audio-visual interactions.

  • To toggle the backlight function (on/off or cycle modes), press the Fn key + Spacebar.
  • Additional backlight adjustments (brightness, speed, color) can typically be controlled via specific Fn key combinations or through the customization software. Refer to the web driver for full customization options.

5.3 Tri-Mode Switching

The keyboard allows seamless switching between wired, 2.4G, and Bluetooth modes using a dedicated switch, usually located on the back or side of the keyboard.

5.4 Customization with QMK/VIA

The NUT108 supports QMK/VIA open-source macro programming systems. This allows for full RGB per-key customization and advanced macro programming. Proprietary web drivers are also available for instant macro programming and lighting customization without requiring software installation.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the keyboard to prevent dust and debris from accumulating between keys.
  • Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove loose particles.
  • For stubborn dirt, gently wipe keycaps with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Ensure no liquid enters the keyboard.

6.2 Battery Care

  • To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the keyboard frequently.
  • When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the keyboard from the computer or power source.

6.3 Quick Release System

The NUT108 features a quick-release system for easy disassembly and maintenance. This system uses magnetic contact pins for the mainboard and light board, optimizing pulling force for smoother disassembly.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard unresponsive: Check whether the USB connection is loose. For wireless modes, ensure the keyboard is charged and correctly paired.
  • Backlight not illuminating: Try restarting the device or using a different USB port. Ensure the backlight function is toggled on (Fn + Spacebar).
