  • Notch Mode: Allows you to filter out unwanted targets, such as iron and foil, by discriminating specific metal types. This helps focus on more valuable finds.
  • User operating the detector in Notch Mode

  • Jewelry Mode: Optimized for finding precious metals like gold and silver, often used to ignore common trash items.
  • Memory Mode: Retains your last detection settings for consistent results across multiple sessions or when returning to a previously searched area.
  • User operating the detector in Memory Mode

Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button on the control unit to turn the detector on or off.
  • Mode Selection: Use the mode buttons on the control unit to switch between the five detection modes.
  • Sensitivity Control: Adjust the sensitivity (5 grades, 0-99 double digits) to optimize detection depth and reduce false signals. Higher sensitivity increases depth but can also pick up more interference.
  • Volume Control: Adjust the audio volume (3 grades) to a comfortable level.
  • LCD Backlight: The monochrome LCD features a backlight for use in low-light conditions.
  • Battery Indication: The display shows a 4-grade battery indicator. Recharge the battery when it is low.
  • Automatic Shutdown: The machine will automatically shut down after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity, emitting a shutdown prompt tone.
  • Coin Depth Indication: The display provides an indication of coin depth at 2", 4", 6", 8", and '+'.
  • Target Metals Discrimination: The detector can discriminate between 7 kinds of target metals.
  • Signal Strength Indication: A 5-grade indicator shows the strength of the detected signal.
  • Sound Frequency: 3 kinds of frequencies indicate different metals.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the detector with a damp cloth after each use. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
  • Search Coil: The search coil is waterproof up to 3.3 feet (1 meter) and can be rinsed with fresh water. Ensure the control unit is not submerged unless explicitly stated as waterproof.
  • Rain Cover: Use the included rain cover to protect the control unit from rain and dust during operation in adverse weather conditions.
  • Metal detector with a rain cover on the control unit
Figure 11: Metal detector with a rain cover on the control unit, shown near water.
  • Battery Care: Recharge the battery regularly. For long-term storage, charge the battery to about 50% and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a dry, safe place away from extreme temperatures. The telescopic shaft can be retracted for compact storage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your metal detector, consider the following common solutions:

  • No Power: Ensure the battery is fully charged. Check the charging cable and adapter.
  • False Signals/Chatter: Reduce sensitivity settings. Move away from sources of electromagnetic interference (power lines, other electronics). Ensure the search coil cable is tightly wound around the shaft.
  • No Detection: Verify the detector is in an appropriate mode (e.g., All Metal). Check sensitivity settings. Ensure the search coil is properly connected.
  • Inaccurate Pinpointing: Practice sweeping the coil slowly and precisely over the target area in Pinpoint mode.
  • Display Issues: If the LCD is dim, check battery level. If unresponsive, try restarting the device.

User Tips

  • Ground Balance: Take advantage of the advanced ground balance feature, especially in mineralized soils, to minimize false signals and improve detection accuracy.
  • Practice with Known Targets: Before heading out, practice with known metal objects (coins, jewelry) in different soil conditions to get familiar with the detector's responses and audio tones.
  • Sweep Slowly: Always sweep the search coil slowly and steadily, overlapping each sweep slightly to ensure thorough coverage of the area.
  • Use Headphones: Using headphones can help you hear subtle target signals that might be missed in noisy environments, improving your detection rate.
  • Adjust Sensitivity: If you experience excessive chatter or false signals, try lowering the sensitivity. In very clean ground, you can increase sensitivity for greater depth.
  • Conserve Battery: Utilize the automatic shutdown feature and turn off the backlight when not needed to extend battery life during long hunting sessions.
