4. Installation Guide

Rear Camera Installation Method

  1. Turn off the car engine.
  2. Insert a TF card into the TF card slot.
    Note: Use a high-speed TF card (Class 10 or above) with at least 8GB capacity. The maximum supported SD card is 128GB.
  3. Secure the smart display on the car's dashboard (center console).
  4. Insert the car charger into the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket (for OBD version, connect to the OBD port, depending on the power supply method).
  5. Use the extension USB cable to connect the dash cam's USB port to the car charger.

Note: When routing the wire, you can lay the extension cable along the edge of the windshield.

  1. Install the rear camera at the back of the vehicle, paying attention to its orientation. Route the cable along the headliner. After installation, plug the rear camera connector into the dash cam's rear camera port.
  2. Adjust the camera position so that the lens remains level with the ground.
  3. Start the engine and check that the device is installed correctly.
    Note: If installed correctly, the system indicator light will turn on and the device will enter recording mode (the recording indicator will blink). Check whether the display image is normal. If the image is inverted, please contact us promptly.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Main Interface

The main interface provides quick access to various applications and settings. It displays time, date, and media playback information.

Navigation Bar Functions

  • Dash Cam Preview: Tap the camera icon to open the dash cam preview interface.
  • Open Apps: Tap the square icon to show currently open apps; tap an app to open it.
  • Back: Tap the curved arrow icon to go back to the previous screen.
  • Split-Screen Mode: Tap the split-screen button to activate split-screen mode. This allows two applications to run simultaneously on the screen.

5.2 Multitask Split Screen

In split-screen mode, swipe up from the bottom of each screen to display the multi-app list. For example, you can have navigation on one side and YouTube on the other.

5.3 Floating Button

The floating button allows quick adjustments and navigation.

  • Movable Floating Ball: Access the quick function menu at any time for one-click screen-off, split-screen, cleanup, and return to the home screen.
  • Brightness and Volume: Allows quick adjustment of screen brightness and volume.

5.4 Connecting CarPlay

  1. Tap the CarPlay icon to open the device CarPlay function.
  2. On your phone, turn on Bluetooth and search for the device's Bluetooth name, displayed at the top-right corner of the screen. Each device has a unique Bluetooth name.
  3. After the phone connects via Bluetooth, a prompt will appear to use CarPlay. Tap 'Use CarPlay' to confirm on your phone.
  4. Once connected, functions on your phone—such as Maps, Music, Phone, and Messages—will be synchronized to the dash cam device.

5.5 Connecting Android Auto

  1. Tap the Android Auto icon to open the device Android Auto function.
  2. On your phone, turn on Bluetooth and search for the device's Bluetooth name, displayed at the top-right corner of the screen. Each device has a unique Bluetooth name.
  3. After the phone connects via Bluetooth, a prompt will appear to use Android Auto. Tap 'Use Android Auto' to confirm on your phone.
  4. Once connected, functions on your phone—such as Maps, Music, Phone, and Messages—will be synchronized to the dash cam device.

5.6 Applications

  • YouTube: Tap the YouTube icon to open YouTube for videos and music.
  • Netflix: Tap the Netflix icon to open Netflix. After registering an account, you can watch movies and other media.
  • Chrome: Tap the Chrome icon to open Google Chrome and enter a URL for browsing or searching.
  • Maps: Tap the Maps icon to open the map (navigation) function.

5.7 Media Playback (Music, Video, Pictures)

Tap the Music icon to access and play videos, music, and images.

  • Video: Supported Formats: MP4, MOV, 3GP, MKV, FLV, WMV; (Unsupported Formats/Resolutions: 2K and 4K videos, VOB, RMVB, MPG).
  • Music: Supported Formats: MP3, OGG, AAC, FLAC, WAV; (Unsupported Formats: WMA, APE).
  • If music is playing when the device is turned off, it will resume playback automatically the next time the device is turned on.
  • If music is paused when the device is turned off, it will remain paused when the device is turned on again.
  • By connecting a device via Bluetooth, music can be instantly enjoyed directly through the car's audio system.
  • Connect CarPlay/Android Auto first, then pair the car's Bluetooth. This allows you to use CarPlay/Android Auto and play music via Bluetooth at the same time.

5.8 Audio Output Options

There are several ways to play audio from built-in apps (such as Netflix or YouTube) through your car's speakers:

  • Native Audio: Audio is played through the device's built-in speakers.
  • AUX Connection: Use the included AUX cable to connect the device to your car's AUX input.
  • FM Transmitter: Turn on the device's FM transmitter mode, then set both the device and the car radio to the same FM frequency.
  • Bluetooth Audio: Enable Bluetooth on the device and pair it with your car's Bluetooth system.

5.9 Settings

Tap the Settings icon to enter system settings and perform system operations.

a. Network and Internet

  • Wi-Fi:
    1. Tap the Wi-Fi option to quickly enable the Wi-Fi function.
    2. The system automatically scans nearby Wi-Fi signals and lists available networks.
    3. Tap a network name to open the setup window and follow the prompts to connect.
    4. For encrypted networks, enter the correct password and tap Connect.
  • Bluetooth:
    1. Turn on Bluetooth and select Pair with new device.
    2. The system scans nearby Bluetooth devices and lists their names.
    3. Tap a device name to connect.

b. Device Settings

  • Navigation Bar Position: Choose either Left or Right.
  • Key Volume: Turn on to enable click sounds when pressing buttons; turn off to mute.

c. Apps & Notifications

  • Tap Apps & Notifications in the Settings menu to manage applications.
  • You can view apps in different modes: Downloaded, Internal Storage, Running, or All.
  • You can also open or uninstall applications.

d. Storage

  • Tap Storage in the Settings menu to view the total, used, and available space for application or data storage.
  • If a TF card is inserted, it will display the total, used, and available space for EXTSD.

e. System

  • Language & Input:
    1. Tap Language & Input in the Settings menu.
    2. Spell Checker: Enable or disable smart spell correction. Default: enabled.
    3. Input Method: Set your preferred keyboard/input method.
  • Date & Time:
    1. Tap Date & Time in the Settings menu to access date and time settings.
    2. Options include: Automatic date & time: Enable to use network-provided date and time.; Time zone selection; 24-hour format; Date format.
    3. To set manually, disable Automatic and select Set Date and Set Time.
  • Reset Options:
    1. Reset Network Settings: WLAN, mobile data, and Bluetooth settings.
    2. Reset App Preferences: Reset all app preferences.
    3. Erase All Data (Factory Reset): Restore the device to factory settings.

f. About Device

  • Android Version: Shows the current Android version.
  • Model: Displays the product model.
  • When performing an OTA update, provide the IMEI number to customer service to facilitate the release of a new version.

6. Troubleshooting

General Issues

  • Excessive Pressure: Do not apply excessive pressure to the dash cam.
  • Malfunctioning: If a problem occurs, do not continue to operate the dash cam while it is malfunctioning.
  • Abnormal Behavior: If the dash cam behaves abnormally, press and hold the power button for 9 seconds; the dash cam will power off and restart.

Common Questions & Solutions

  • Q: GPS shows inaccurate location or has tracking gaps
    A: If the GPS location is inaccurate, enable Google Location Accuracy. With this setting turned on and your device connected to Wi-Fi, location fixes will be faster and more precise.
  • Q: OTA Update Failed
    A: If the OTA (Over-the-Air) update fails, please check whether your network connection is stable and functioning properly.
  • Q: Hotspot cannot be enabled
    A: If the device cannot connect to the hotspot, check on your phone whether the hotspot name is visible and confirm the password is entered correctly (the default password is 12345678). If the hotspot name does not appear, restore the device to factory settings and try again.
  • Q: Timestamp is incorrect
    A: Unstable or unavailable network connections may prevent accurate updates.

CarPlay/Android Auto Connection Issues

If unable to connect to CarPlay or Android Auto, please try the following methods:

  • Method 1: Forget the connected Bluetooth device on your phone and the dash cam, then try to reconnect.
  • Method 2: Restart both your phone and the dash cam. Wait for 15 seconds after turning off the device, then restart and try again.
  • Method 3 (Android Auto Specific): Update the Android Auto program on your phone and ensure wireless connection is enabled in the Auto settings. If issues persist, search for "Android Auto" on your phone, go to "Settings > Android Auto > Connection Help", and follow the prompts. Then restart the device (turn it off for 10 seconds).

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and exterior of the device. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Temperature: Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures (below -20°C or above +70°C) for extended periods.
  • Storage: When not in use for a long time, store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for OTA updates to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features.

8. User Tips

  • For optimal navigation performance, ensure your device has a stable Wi-Fi connection to download offline maps or use online services.
  • Utilize the split-screen feature to multitask effectively, such as running navigation and music simultaneously.
  • Familiarize yourself with the floating button for quick access to essential functions like brightness and volume adjustments, which can improve driving safety.
