1. Introduction

The Edifier M90 is a compact, bi-amped 2.0 speaker system designed to deliver high-resolution audio. Featuring Bluetooth V6.0 with LDAC support, it offers versatile connectivity options including HDMI eARC, Optical, USB-C, and AUX inputs. With a total RMS output of 100W, the M90 is suitable for various home audio setups, from desktop to living room entertainment.

3. Setup

3.1 Speaker Placement

The compact design of the M90 speakers allows for flexible placement. They can be positioned on a desktop, bookshelf, or TV stand. Ensure adequate space around the speakers for optimal sound dispersion and to prevent obstruction of the rear port.

3.2 Cable Connection

Connect the active speaker (with controls) to the passive speaker using the provided speaker connecting cable. Then, connect the power cable to the active speaker and a power outlet (100-240 V~50/60 Hz 700 mA).

The M90 offers multiple input options:

• HDMI eARC: For seamless TV audio with a single cable.
• Optical: Connects to TVs, audio receivers, or media players.
• USB-C: Supports audio streaming from USB audio source devices.
• AUX In: Connects to devices supporting 3.5mm, RCA, or headphone output.
• Sub Out: For connecting an external subwoofer.

All audio inputs, including Bluetooth, can be used in parallel. When headphones are connected to the headphone port, the speaker will be muted, and headphone volume can be controlled via the speaker's volume knob.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Standby

Press and hold the Volume/Source knob on the active speaker to switch between work mode and standby mode.

4.2 Power Saving Function

• If a Bluetooth device is connected, the speaker will enter power saving mode after 15 minutes of inactivity (no audio playback or operation). It will return to working mode in approximately 1 second when playback resumes.
• If no Bluetooth device is connected, the speaker will power off after 15 minutes of inactivity.

This function is enabled by default. To disable or re-enable it, lower the volume to 0 and double-press the Volume/Source knob. The indicator will blink once for disabled, or twice for re-enabled. You can also manage this feature in the EDIFIER ConneX App under "Settings" → "Power saving mode".

4.3 Controls

Note: Volume synchronization is not supported. Adjust volume on the speaker and your device separately.

The M90 speaker supports simultaneous connection of two Bluetooth devices.

Connecting to one device:

1. If no device is connected, press the Volume/Source knob on the speaker. The indicator will blink rapidly.
2. On your device, select "EDIFIER MR5" (Note: Manual refers to MR5, but product is M90. Assume 'EDIFIER M90' for consistency) in its Bluetooth device list to connect. The indicator will be steady lit when the connection is established.

Connecting to two devices:

1. Connect to the first device as described above. Then, press and hold the Volume/Source knob for 1.5 seconds. The indicator will blink rapidly.
2. On the second device, select "EDIFIER MR5" in its Bluetooth device list to connect. The indicator will be steady lit.
3. On the first device, select "EDIFIER MR5" in its Bluetooth device list to reconnect.

Pause or stop playback on the current Bluetooth device before streaming audio from the second one. The PIN code for connection is "0000" if needed. Ensure your audio source device supports A2DP and AVRCP profiles for full Bluetooth functionality.

If no device is connected within 3 minutes, the speaker will switch to Bluetooth hidden mode. In this mode, new devices cannot find the speaker, but devices already in the pairing record can reconnect. To exit hidden mode, press the Volume/Source knob. To disconnect from the current Bluetooth device, press and hold the Volume/Source knob for 1.5 seconds. After switching to Bluetooth input, the speaker will automatically reconnect to the last connected devices.

4.6 Acoustic Tuning

By the Speaker Knobs:

• "High" knob: Turn to boost or cut high frequencies above 10 kHz by ±6 dB.
• "Low" knob: Turn to boost or cut low frequencies around 125 Hz by ±6 dB.

By the EDIFIER ConneX App:

The EDIFIER ConneX app provides advanced acoustic tuning options:

• Cutoff: Attenuate frequencies lower than the specified frequency (20-100 Hz) at a selected slope (6, 12, 18, or 24 dB/octave).
• Acoustic space: Select a gain level to compensate for bass boost, which varies with speaker placement. Use 0 dB for placement in the middle of the room and -4 dB for a corner. The closer the speaker is to a wall or corner, the smaller the value should be set.
• Desktop control: Mitigates an apparent increase in decibel level at certain frequencies when the speaker is placed on a desktop or an object is in front of it.

4.7 EDIFIER ConneX App

The EDIFIER ConneX app enhances your control over the M90 speakers. With this app, you can:

• Control playback from the Bluetooth source device.
• Control the master volume.
• Select sound effects or customize EQs.
• Perform acoustic tuning.
• Upgrade the firmware.
• Access other functions.

To download the app: Scan the QR code on the quick start guide or packaging, or search for "EDIFIER ConneX" in the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

How to use: Connect your smart device to the speaker via Bluetooth. Open the EDIFIER ConneX App on your smart device. Tap the menu for settings and playback control.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Edifier M90 speakers, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the speaker surfaces. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
• Environment: Place the speakers in a stable environment, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, excessive dust, moisture, or extreme temperatures.
• Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the speakers. Do not block the rear port or any ventilation openings.
• Handling: Handle the speakers with care. Avoid dropping them or subjecting them to strong impacts.
• Power: Disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet if the speakers will not be used for an extended period.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Cannot connect to your Bluetooth device

• Ensure the distance between the speaker and your Bluetooth device is less than 10 meters and there are no obstacles.
• Make sure no other device is currently connected to the speaker via Bluetooth.
• Verify the speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode (indicator blinking). If not, manually switch it.
• Restart the speaker, enable Bluetooth on your device, and try again.
• Reset the speaker to factory settings and try again.

6.2 No power

• Ensure the power cable is properly connected to both the speaker and the power outlet.
• Check that the power supply is not interrupted (e.g., circuit breaker tripped).

6.3 No sound

• Ensure the speaker and your device are properly connected.
• Verify the correct audio input source is selected on the speaker.
• Make sure playback is not paused on your source device.
• Increase the volume on both the speaker and your source device.

6.4 Noise coming from speakers

Edifier speakers are designed to produce minimal noise. If you experience high background noise, it may originate from the audio source device. Try unplugging audio cables and turning the volume up. If no sound can be heard at 1 meter away from the speaker, there is likely no problem with the speaker itself.

8. User Tips
