  1. Choose a Location: Select an open area where the sensor can freely measure wind, rain, and sunlight without obstructions. Ensure it's easily accessible for maintenance.
  2. Mounting: The sensor can be mounted on top of a pole, on the side of a structure, or directly on a pole using the provided installation materials. Ensure the level indicator shows the sensor is perfectly horizontal for accurate rain and wind measurements.
  3. Powering the Sensor: The outdoor sensor is powered by 2*AA batteries (not included) and a solar panel. Ensure the solar panel is exposed to direct sunlight for optimal charging.

3.2 Indoor Display Console Power Supply

The indoor display console requires a power adapter for continuous operation and Wi-Fi connectivity. It can also use 3*AAA batteries (not included) for backup power, but Wi-Fi functionality will be disabled when running on batteries alone.

  1. Connect the provided power adapter to the display console and plug it into a wall outlet.
  2. (Optional) Insert 3 x 1.5V AAA batteries into the battery compartment on the back of the console for backup power.

3.3 Wi-Fi Connection

To view and share your weather data online, connect the console to your 2.4G Wi-Fi network.

Wiring diagram showing the outdoor sensor transmitting wirelessly to the console, which connects to a 2.4G router via Wi-Fi. The router then connects to Weather Underground and Weathercloud services. Steps include console WiFi icon flash, connecting to 'WeatherHome' WLAN, and setting up weather services via a web page.

  1. Ensure the console is plugged into AC power. The console will not connect to Wi-Fi when powered by batteries.
  2. Power up the outdoor sensor before powering up the console.
  3. On the console, press and hold the Min/Max button until the Wi-Fi icon keeps flashing.
  4. Connect your laptop or smart device to the "WeatherHome" WLAN network broadcast by the console.
  5. Open a web browser and navigate to the weather setting web page (refer to your manual for the specific address).
  6. Enter your 2.4G router's network name (SSID) and password.
  7. Create an account on Weather Underground (WU) or Weathercloud, or create a new device within an existing account. Obtain your Station ID and Key.
  8. Input your Station ID and Key into the weather setting web page to enable data upload.
  9. Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon on the display will be displayed all the time.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your weather station, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Outdoor Sensor:
    • Periodically check the rain collector for debris (leaves, insects) and clean it to ensure accurate rainfall measurements.
    • Ensure the wind cups and wind vane spin freely. Remove any obstructions.
    • Clean the solar panel regularly to maintain optimal charging efficiency.
    • Check battery levels periodically and replace them as needed.
  • Indoor Console:
    • Clean the display screen with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
    • Keep the console in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
    • Ensure proper ventilation around the console.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • No Display on Console:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged in and the outlet is functional.
    • Check if the backup AAA batteries (if installed) are correctly inserted and not depleted.
  • Outdoor Sensor Not Transmitting Data:
    • Verify that the outdoor sensor batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge.
    • Ensure the sensor is within the wireless transmission range (up to 330ft/100m).
    • Check for any physical obstructions between the sensor and the console.
    • Re-sync the outdoor sensor with the console (refer to the detailed manual for specific steps).
  • Wi-Fi Connection Failure:
    • Confirm the console is powered by the AC adapter, not just batteries.
    • Double-check your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
    • Ensure your router is operating on a 2.4GHz frequency, as the weather station does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Verify that the Station ID and Key for Weather Underground/Weathercloud are correctly entered.
    • Restart your router, console, and attempt the Wi-Fi setup process again.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Rainfall: Check the rain collector for blockages.
    • Wind: Ensure the wind cups and vane are free to move and the sensor is level.
    • Temperature/Humidity: Ensure the sensor is not in direct sunlight (unless designed for it) or near heat sources/vents.
