3. Setup and Assembly

Your PHILODO H7PRO Electric Bike comes partially assembled. Please follow these steps for final assembly and initial setup:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Handlebar Installation: Attach the handlebars to the stem, ensuring all bolts are securely tightened. Adjust the angle for comfortable riding.
  3. Pedal Installation: Identify left (L) and right (R) pedals. Thread the pedals into the crank arms. Note that the left pedal has a reverse thread. Tighten firmly with a wrench.
  4. Seat Post Adjustment: Insert the seat post into the frame and adjust the seat height to ensure your feet can comfortably touch the ground when stopped. Secure with the quick-release lever or bolt.
  5. Tire Inflation: Check tire pressure and inflate to the recommended PSI (usually found on the tire sidewall). The 26*4 inch fat tires require specific pressure for optimal performance and comfort.
  6. Brake Check: Ensure both front and rear hydraulic disc brakes are functioning correctly. Squeeze the brake levers to confirm proper engagement and release.
  7. Initial Battery Charge: Before your first ride, fully charge the 48V 17.5AH lithium battery. Refer to the 'Battery Charging' section for detailed instructions.

4. Operating Instructions

The PHILODO H7PRO offers three cycling modes and intuitive controls for a versatile riding experience.

4.1 Cycling Modes

  • Regular Pedaling: Ride the bike like a traditional bicycle, using your own leg power.
  • Pedal-Assist (PAS): The motor provides assistance as you pedal, making riding easier, especially on inclines or long distances. The level of assistance can be adjusted via the LCD display.
  • Electric Throttle: Use the thumb throttle to engage the motor without pedaling, providing a boost of power similar to a motorcycle.

4.2 Controls and Display

Handlebar controls including LCD display, throttle, and switches

  • LCD Display: Shows speed, battery level (energy bar), pedal-assist level (PAS), and odometer (ODO).
  • Power On/Off: Use the designated button on the handlebar to turn the e-bike system on or off.
  • Speed/Assistance Up/Down: Buttons to increase or decrease the level of pedal assistance or electric speed.
  • Thumb Throttle: Located on the right handlebar, used for electric-only propulsion.
  • Electric Switch: Activates or deactivates the electric system.
  • Switch for Headlight and Horn: Controls the integrated headlight and horn for safety.
  • Disc Brake Handle Grip: Ergonomically designed for comfortable and effective braking.
  • Shimano 21 Speeds Gear: Use the gear shifters to select appropriate gears for different riding conditions.

4.3 Braking System

The H7PRO is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping power.

Figure 5: Battery Features and Protections
  • Charging: Use only the original charger provided. Do not overcharge or leave the battery charging unattended for extended periods.
  • Storage: Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for a long time, charge it to about 50-70% every 1-2 months.
  • Protection Features: The battery is equipped with a Battery Management System (BMS) providing overcharge, overdischarge, overvoltage, short circuit, temperature, and overcurrent protection.
  • Water Resistance: The battery is IPX6 waterproof, meaning it can withstand strong jets of water, but avoid submerging it.
  • Removable Battery: The battery is removable for convenient charging and storage.

5.2 General Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean your e-bike with a damp cloth. Avoid high-pressure washing directly on electrical components.
  • Tires: Check tire pressure before each ride. Inspect tires for wear and tear or punctures.
  • Brakes: Periodically check brake pads for wear and ensure brake levers operate smoothly. If braking performance degrades, consult a professional.
  • Chain and Gears: Keep the chain clean and lubricated. Ensure gear shifting is smooth and precise.
  • Fenders and Rear Rack: The bike comes with fenders to keep you clean and a rear rack for carrying items. Ensure these are securely attached.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your PHILODO H7PRO Electric Bike.

  • Bike Not Turning On:
    • Check if the battery is properly seated and locked.
    • Ensure the battery is charged.
    • Verify all electrical connections are secure.
  • Motor Not Assisting:
    • Check the pedal-assist (PAS) level on the LCD display; ensure it's not set to '0'.
    • If using the throttle, ensure the electric switch is engaged.
    • Inspect brake levers; some e-bikes have cut-off switches that disengage the motor when brakes are applied.
  • Reduced Range:
    • Ensure the battery is fully charged before each ride.
    • Riding in higher assist modes, against strong winds, or on steep inclines will reduce range.
    • Tire pressure can affect range; ensure tires are properly inflated.
  • Brakes Squealing or Ineffective:
    • Brake pads might be worn and need replacement.
    • Brake rotors or pads might be contaminated with oil or grease; clean with disc brake cleaner.
    • Brakes may need adjustment or bleeding (for hydraulic systems); consult a bike mechanic if unsure.
