5. Setup Guide

5.1 Power Supply

The machine can be powered in two ways:

  1. AC Adapter: Connect the DC 6V 1200mA power adapter to the DC input jack on the back of the machine and plug it into a wall outlet.
  2. Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the machine and insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

5.2 Threading the Machine

Proper threading is crucial for smooth operation and good stitch quality.

  1. Upper Thread:
Follow the numbered guides on the machine. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Guide the thread through the tension disc, then through the take-up lever, and finally through the needle eye. Ensure the thread is securely seated in all guides.
  2. Bobbin Winding:
Place an empty bobbin on the bobbin winder spindle. Guide the thread from the spool through the bobbin winder tension disc and then around the bobbin. Start the machine briefly to wind the bobbin. Once full, cut the thread and remove the bobbin.
  3. Lower Bobbin:
Open the bobbin cover. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise). Pull the thread through the small slot in the bobbin case. Close the bobbin cover.

7. Maintenance and Care

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sewing machine.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a small brush. Unplug the machine before cleaning.
  • Needle Replacement: Replace needles frequently, especially when sewing different fabric types or if the needle becomes dull or bent. Using the correct needle for your fabric type is essential. For thin, soft, and elastic fabrics, special needles must be purchased separately to prevent needle skipping.
  • Lubrication: Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for lubrication frequency and points, if applicable.
  • Storage: Store the machine in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.
