4. Setup
4.1 Physical Connections
- Insert SIM Card: Locate the Micro-SIM card slot on the bottom rear of the router. Carefully insert your activated Micro-SIM card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the SIM card is correctly oriented.
- Connect Power Adapter: Connect the provided power adapter to the 'Power' port on the rear of the router and then plug it into a power outlet.
- Ethernet Connections (Optional): If you wish to connect devices via Ethernet, use an RJ45 network cable to connect your computer or other network devices to the 'LAN GE' or 'LAN/WAN GE' ports. The 'LAN/WAN GE' port can also be used to connect to an existing modem or router for a wired internet source.
- External Antennas (Optional): For improved signal reception, you can connect up to four external LTE antennas to the 'INT/EXT' ports on the rear of the router.

4.2 Initial Configuration
Once powered on, the router will automatically attempt to connect to the 5G/4G network. You can access the router's web management interface for detailed configuration.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: On your computer or mobile device, search for the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) printed on the label at the bottom of the router. Connect to this network using the default Wi-Fi password (Key) also found on the label.
- Access Web GUI: Open a web browser and enter the default login address (e.g.,
http://192.168.1.1orhttp://zyxel.home) found on the router's bottom label. - Login: Enter the default username and password (e.g.,
adminfor both) as indicated on the label. You will be prompted to change the default password for security reasons. - Follow Setup Wizard: The web interface may guide you through an initial setup wizard to configure basic settings like time zone, Wi-Fi name, and password.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
To power on the router, ensure the power adapter is connected and plugged in. The router will automatically start. To power off, simply unplug the power adapter. There might be a dedicated ON/OFF button on the rear panel next to the power port.
5.2 LED Indicators
The LED indicators on the top of the router provide status information:
- Power LED: Indicates power status.
- Internet LED: Indicates internet connection status (e.g., solid green for connected, blinking for activity).
- 5G/4G Signal Strength LEDs: Multiple LEDs typically indicate the strength of the cellular signal. More lit LEDs mean a stronger signal.
- Wi-Fi LED: Indicates Wi-Fi network status (e.g., solid for active, blinking for data transfer).

5.3 Connecting Devices
- Wi-Fi: Use the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password to connect your wireless devices (smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc.) to the router.
- Ethernet: Connect wired devices (desktops, gaming consoles, smart TVs) to the LAN ports using Ethernet cables.
- USB: The USB 3.0 port can be used for connecting external storage devices for network sharing or other compatible peripherals.
5.4 Advanced Features
- Bridge Mode: Configure the router to act as a bridge, passing network traffic directly to another router.
- Band Steering: Allows the router to intelligently direct devices to the optimal Wi-Fi band (2.4GHz or 5GHz) for better performance.
- Remote Management: The router supports remote management via TR-069 (TR-181 and TR-143 speed test) and a web GUI.
- Zyxel Mobile App: Download the official Zyxel mobile app (available for iOS and Android) for convenient management and monitoring of your router.
6. Maintenance
- Firmware Updates (FOTA): The router supports Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) updates. Regularly check for and install firmware updates through the web management interface or Zyxel mobile app to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
- Cleaning: Keep the router clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the router is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture. Operate within the specified temperature (0 °C ~ 40 °C) and humidity (5% ~ 95% non-condensing) ranges.
- Restarting: If you experience network issues, try restarting the router by unplugging the power adapter, waiting 10 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 No Internet Connection
- Check SIM Card: Ensure the Micro-SIM card is correctly inserted and activated with a data plan.
- Check Signal Strength: Observe the 5G/4G signal strength LEDs. If the signal is weak, try repositioning the router or connecting external antennas.
- Check Cables: Verify all Ethernet cables are securely connected.
- Restart Router: Power cycle the router by unplugging and replugging the power adapter.
- Check APN Settings: In the web management interface, verify that the Access Point Name (APN) settings match those provided by your mobile network operator.
7.2 Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues
- Incorrect Password: Double-check the Wi-Fi password.
- Router Range: Ensure your device is within the Wi-Fi range of the router.
- Interference: Move the router away from other electronic devices that might cause interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
- Band Steering: If experiencing issues, try disabling band steering in the router settings to manually select 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
7.3 Slow Speeds
- Signal Strength: A weak 5G/4G signal will result in slower speeds. Improve signal by repositioning or using external antennas.
- Network Congestion: Performance can be affected by network congestion from your mobile operator.
- Device Capabilities: Ensure your connected devices support Wi-Fi 6 for optimal wireless performance.
- Firmware: Ensure the router's firmware is up to date.
7.4 Router Unresponsive
- Power Cycle: Unplug the power adapter, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Factory Reset: If the router remains unresponsive, you may need to perform a factory reset. Locate the 'RESET' button (often a small pinhole) on the bottom or rear of the router. Use a paperclip to press and hold the button for about 10 seconds until the LEDs flash, then release. This will restore all settings to factory defaults.
8. User Tips
- Carrier Compatibility: This router is unlocked and compatible with various carriers, provided they operate on the supported 5G (n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n77, n78) and 4G/LTE (B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B32, B38, B40, B41, B42, B43) bands. Always verify your carrier's bands before use.
