5. Setup

5.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the spot welder using the provided Type-C charging cable. Connect the cable to the Type-C port on the device and a 5V/1A (MAX) power adapter. The display will indicate charging status.

5.2 Welding Pin Installation and Adjustment

The welding pins are designed for easy replacement and spacing adjustment to suit different welding needs.

  1. Loosen the fixing screws on both sides of the welding pins.
  2. Remove the existing soldering pin by pulling it along its direction.
  3. Install new soldering pins.
  4. Adjust the spacing between the pins to your desired width.
  5. Tighten the fixing screws on both sides to secure the pins.

Important: Please use a 0.118inch/3mm outer diameter cross screwdriver for disassembly. The welding pin screw is embedded and does not need to be removed separately. Forcefully removing the screw may cause damage to the housing.

Caution: Replace the soldering pins under shutdown. It is strictly prohibited to adjust the soldering pin spacing to 0. It is recommended to adjust the soldering pin spacing to 0.8mm/0.03inch or more.

Step-by-step guide for replacing welding pins on the AS1 model: 1. Loosen screws, 2. Remove pin, 3. Install new pin, 4. Tighten screws.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button to turn the device on or off.

6.2 Mode Selection (Manual/Automatic)

The spot welder supports both manual and automatic modes. Use the mode selection button (often labeled 'M/A' or indicated by LEDs) to switch between modes. In automatic mode, the device will weld automatically when the pins make contact with the material. In manual mode, you will need to press the trigger button to initiate a weld.

6.4 Welding Process

  1. Prepare the nickel strip and battery terminals by ensuring they are clean and free of oxidation. Use the provided sandpaper if necessary.
  2. Place the nickel strip firmly against the battery terminal.
  3. Position the welding pins squarely on the nickel strip, applying even pressure.
  4. If in automatic mode, the weld will initiate automatically. If in manual mode, press the trigger button.
  5. Hold the pins in place briefly until the weld is complete, then lift them straight up.
  6. Inspect the weld for strength and consistency. Adjust the gear setting if necessary.

10. User Tips

  • Practice First: If you are new to spot welding, practice on scrap nickel strips and old batteries to get a feel for the correct pressure and timing before working on your main project.
  • Cleanliness is Key: Always ensure the surfaces to be welded are clean and free of dirt, grease, or oxidation for the best weld quality.
  • Optimal Pin Spacing: Experiment with different pin spacings to find what works best for your specific application. Narrower spacing generally provides stronger welds.
  • Listen to the Weld: A good spot weld often produces a distinct 'pop' sound. If you hear a weak sizzle or excessive sparking, adjust your settings or technique.
  • Battery Health: The device uses high-quality polymer batteries. Avoid using secondary cells with high self-consumption to ensure optimal performance and safety.
