3. Compatibility
This multimedia system is specifically designed for certain BMW models and original system types. Please verify your car's model, year, and original system (CIC or NBT) before installation. This unit is not compatible with EVO systems (ID5/ID6/ID7 menu).
3.1 Applicable Models and Years (Left Hand Drive Cars)
- For BMW X3 F25 X4 F26:
- 2011-2013 models with CIC System (4Pin LVDS Plug)
- 2014-2017 models with NBT System (6Pin LVDS Plug)
- For BMW 3 Series F30 F31 F34 F35:
- 2013-2017 models with Original NBT System
- For BMW 4 Series F32 F33 F36:
- 2013-2017 models with Original NBT System
Important: Some 2017 year cars may have an EVO system (ID5/ID6/ID7 menu), which is NOT compatible with this unit.

5. Installation Guide
The Bonroad multimedia system is designed for plug-and-play installation, meaning no wire cutting is typically required. However, professional installation is highly recommended due to the complexity of vehicle electronics.
5.1 Pre-Installation Checks
- Confirm vehicle compatibility (model, year, CIC/NBT system).
- Ensure the vehicle's battery is disconnected.
- Gather necessary tools (e.g., trim removal tools, screwdrivers).
5.2 General Installation Steps (Consult a professional if unsure)
- Carefully remove the original car screen and trim panels to access the head unit.
- Disconnect the original wiring from the head unit.
- Connect the provided main wiring harness to the original car's connectors and to the new multimedia screen unit.
- Special Note for Fiber Optics: If your OEM connector has a green fiber optics cable, you must carefully move it from the original connector to the new connector on the new harness. Refer to Figure 5 for visual guidance.
- Connect the USB and AUX cables as needed.
- Mount the new multimedia screen unit securely in the dashboard.
- Reconnect the vehicle's battery and proceed to initial setup.

6. Initial Setup
After physical installation, follow these steps to configure the system:
- Turn on your vehicle's ignition.
- If the original car screen shows black or "no signal", this is normal.
- Navigate to the system settings on the new multimedia screen:
Settings > System > Factory (code 8866) > Car Setup. - Select the correct original version for your car (CIC or NBT).
- Once the correct version is selected, you can enter the BMW system.
- To enable audio, ensure your BMW system has an AUX input. Switch to the AUX audio source and save the setting. If no sound, ensure the provided AUX cable is plugged into your car's AUX port.
7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Wireless CarPlay (iOS System)
- Connect your iPhone to the multimedia system via Bluetooth.
- On the multimedia screen, click "Wireless Carplay". The system should switch automatically.
- Wait for the connection to establish.
- Alternatively, you can connect via a USB cable for wired CarPlay.
7.2 Wireless Android Auto (Android System)
- Connect your Android phone to the multimedia system via Bluetooth.
- On the multimedia screen, click "Wireless Auto". The system should switch automatically.
- Wait for the connection to establish.
- Alternatively, you can connect via a USB cable for wired Android Auto.

- A: This is a common initial state. You need to enter the system settings:
Settings > System > Factory (code 8866) > Car Setup, then select the correct original version for your car (CIC or NBT). - Q: I have an audio problem (no sound).
- A: First, check if your BMW system has an AUX input. If it does, switch to the AUX audio source and save the setting. If there's still no sound, ensure the provided AUX cable is correctly plugged into your car's AUX port.
- Q: The original menu is not displayed normally or is incomplete.
- A: Go to
Settings > Factory setting (8866) > OEM Display Areaand select "Full" to ensure the original menu is displayed correctly. - Q: When I turn on the car lights, the screen switches back to the BMW system.
