4. Setup Guide
-
Power Connection
Connect the provided charger to the device's power input port and plug it into a suitable power outlet (default US plug). The device will power on automatically.
-
Battery Insertion
Carefully insert up to four compatible batteries into the designated slots, ensuring correct polarity (positive (+) and negative (-) ends match the markings on the tester). The tester will automatically detect the battery and display initial voltage and resistance readings.
-
Initial Check
After inserting a battery, wait for a slight delay for the data to stabilize and display accurate readings. Ensure the battery is fully charged for the most accurate resistance measurements.
5. Operating Modes
The BTS04 offers three intelligent operating modes to manage your batteries:
Figure 8: Intelligent Operating Modes.
-
Charging Mode (CHG)
This mode provides smart charging support to restore battery vitality. It intelligently monitors the charging process to prevent overcharge.
-
Discharging Mode (DIS)
Safely discharges batteries to release their full potential or to prepare them for storage. This mode is crucial for accurate capacity testing, as discharge capacity is used as the main reference.
-
Cycling Mode (CYCLE)
Automatically performs up to 9 charge-discharge cycles. This mode is ideal for conditioning new batteries or reconditioning older ones, and for precise capacity measurement over multiple cycles.
-
Battery Repair Mode
A dedicated solution for low-voltage batteries. Through slow charging, it gently awakens batteries and restores them to life.
Use the SET button to select the desired mode, and OK to confirm. The arrow buttons (up/down/left/right) navigate through options and channels. CLR clears data, and RSLT and CURVE display results and curves respectively.

10. Troubleshooting
-
Inaccurate Resistance Readings:
- Ensure the battery is fully charged for the most accurate resistance readings.
- Insufficient voltage may cause abnormal resistance readings; recharge the battery before testing again.
- If using external wires for testing, direct connection is recommended for more accurate results as extension wires may cause measurement errors.
-
Delayed Data Display:
- Data updates may have a slight delay during battery insertion or removal. Please check the readings after the data has stabilized.
-
Battery Not Detected:
- Verify that the battery is inserted with correct polarity.
- Ensure the battery is compatible with the BTS04 tester.
11. User Tips
- Optimal Resistance Measurement: For the most accurate internal resistance readings, always ensure the battery is fully charged before initiating the test.
- Understanding Battery Variation: Be aware that each battery's internal resistance may differ slightly due to manufacturing tolerances and usage history. Always refer to the actual measurement for individual battery performance.
- Discharge Capacity as Key Metric: When evaluating battery performance, prioritize the discharge capacity as the main reference. This provides a more realistic assessment of the battery's usable energy.
- DIY Expansion: Utilize the expansion terminals for custom projects or to connect different battery fixtures, but remember to use direct connections for critical measurements to avoid errors from extension wires.
