Video: Overview of the Zefiora M12 Electric Bicycle Model.
Step 1 - Front Fork Assembly
- Remove the front wheel and install it on the front fork.
- Then install the front wheel anti-spin hook and nut, and tighten them.
Step 2 - Fender & Headlight Installation
- Take out the fender, remove the nut, washer, and bolt at the top of the front fork.
- Fix the headlight and fender to the fixed position on the front fork with screws.
- Use a cross screwdriver to loosen the screw at the rear mudguard clip position, then separate the clip by hand and hook it under the saddle tube clamp.
- Adjust to the proper position and tighten the screws with a cross screwdriver to secure the mudguard.
Step 3 - Stem Assembly
- Loosen the screws to remove the front fork sleeve.
- Take out the stem and insert it into the front frame.
- Tighten the screws to fix the stem in place.
- After making sure the stem is aligned with the direction of the tire, tighten the clamping screws below the stem to fix the direction.
Step 4 - Kickstand Installation
- First, you need a screwdriver to fix the screws on the kickstand.
- Secure the kickstand to the designated position of the bike.
- Fasten the screws on the right.
- Finally fix the screws on the left side, making sure they are locked to prevent them from falling off during riding.
Step 5 - Pedals Installation
- Locate the right-side / left-side pedal, which is marked "R," "L," should have an "R"/"L," sticker attached.
- Thread the right pedal onto the right crank gently by hand, turning clockwise. Then tighten pedal by allen wrench.
- Thread the left pedal onto the left crank gently by hand, turning counter-clockwise. Then tighten pedal by allen wrench.
- Check the chain alignment. Rotate the right pedal and crank toward the back of the bike as though pedaling backward. Watch the chain and ensure the chain runs through the drivetrain (the rear cog, chain tensioner, and around the front chain ring) smoothly.
Note: If the pedal/chain doesn't run smoothly or something seems misaligned, please contact Electric Bike Support at support@ride-ebike.com.
Step 6 - Seat Installation
- Loosen the quick-release screws on the saddle clamp to install the seat post.
- Move the seat up and down by sliding the seat post in or out of the seat tube.
- Tighten the screws to fix the seat post in place.
- After making sure the stem is aligned with the direction of the tire, tighten the clamping screws below the stem to fix the direction.
Positioning the seat at the right height is important for better pedaling, safety, and overall riding comfort. The rider's leg length is used to determine the seat's position. When you pedal, your hips should remain level and your legs should be almost fully extended at the bottom of the pedal stroke, but not over-extended.
To determine the right seat height, sit on the eBike with one pedal at its lowest point and place the ball of your foot on the pedal. Your leg should be almost fully extended (not locked out) with a slight bend at the knee.
NOTICE: Ensure the seat post and seat are properly adjusted before riding. DO NOT raise the seat post beyond the lowest insertion marking etched into the seat post tube. If the seat post is extended past these markings, the seat post or frame may break, potentially harming the rider and damaging the bike irreparably. Ensure the lowest insertion markings on the seat post are INSIDE the seat-tube of the frame.
Before using the bike, always check that the latches, levers, and quick releases are properly secured and undamaged. Ensure that they are correctly secured before every ride and after every time the bike is left unsupervised, even momentarily. Otherwise, the handlebar stem and/or seat post may come loose and result in loss of bike control, damage to the rider and/or bike, additional property damage, serious injury, and/or death.
Brake Adjustment
The abnormal noise is caused by thicker brake pads to extend brake life, which can cause friction against the brake disc. This is normal and will return to normal after a few days of wear. How to adjust disc brakes to eliminate friction noise: If your bicycle disc brakes are rubbing against the disc (i.e., the brake disc is making a "sizzling" sound), please adjust them according to the following steps: The image below shows the adjustment for the front and rear brakes. If the noise persists after adjustment, it is recommended to have it adjusted at a vehicle repair shop, or contact our customer service.
- **Prepare tools and locate**: Locate the disc brake caliper (the metal part that holds the brake disc). You will see two vertical screws on the caliper (usually an M6 Allen wrench is used). Prepare the appropriate tools.
- **Loosen the screws**: Use the M6 Allen wrench to slightly loosen these two screws. Note: Only loosen them by one to one and a half turns, allowing the caliper to move slightly left and right. Do not completely remove the screws!
- **Alignment Position**: Gently straighten the wheel with your hand, ensuring it is centered on the frame. Now, use your hand to slightly adjust the position of the brake caliper, moving it left and right. Your goal is to align the brake disc exactly in the center of the two brake pads, with even clearance on both sides. While adjusting, gently rotate the wheel with your other hand, judging by the sound. The optimal position is when it rotates smoothly without any friction noise.
- **Keeping the clamp in the optimal position**, alternately and gradually tighten the two loosened screws. Do not tighten one screw completely at once, as this can easily cause the position to shift again.
After the screws are fully tightened, quickly rotate the wheel one last time to confirm that there are no abnormal noises. If there is still slight friction, repeat steps 2-3.
CAUTION: For your safety, please spin the wheel and test the brakes before riding.
Operation
Battery Removal and Installation
- Insert the key into the lock, turn it counterclockwise to the left; the battery will pop out.
- Then remove the battery and lift it upwards.
When Removing the Battery: Be careful not to drop or damage the battery once it is loose from the bike. Avoid damaging the exposed connector terminals and keep them clear of debris.
When Installing the Battery: Ensure the battery is turned off before sliding it into the frame mount receptacle. Do not force the battery onto the receptacle. Your cables, spokes, and chain will stretch after an initial break-in period of 50-100 mi (80-160 km), and bolted connections can loosen. Always have a certified, reputable bike mechanic perform a tune-up on your bike after your initial break-in period of 50-100 mi (80-160 km) (depending on riding conditions such as total weight, riding characteristics, and terrain). Regular inspections and tune-ups are particularly important for ensuring that your bike remains safe and fun to ride.
Tire Inflation and Replacement
The M10 and M12 models are equipped with 26 x 2.125 inch tires. The tires are designed for durability and safety for regular cycling activities and need to be checked before each use for proper inflation and condition. Proper inflation, care, and timely replacement will help ensure that your bike's operational characteristics will be maintained, and unsafe conditions avoided.
Recommends 40-65 PSI for the stock tires on the bike. Always stay within the manufacturer's recommended air pressure range as listed on the tire sidewall.
It is critically important that proper air pressure is always maintained in pneumatic tires. Do not underinflate or overinflate your tires. Low pressure may result in loss of control, and overinflated tires may burst. Failure to always maintain the air pressure rating indicated on pneumatic tires may result in tire and/or wheel failure.
Inflate your tires from a regulated air source with an available pressure gauge. Inflating your tires from an unregulated air source could overinflate them, resulting in a burst tire.
Even tires equipped with built-in, flat-preventative tire liners, like those that come with bikes, can and do get flats from punctures, pinches, impact, and other causes. When tire wear becomes evident or a flat tire is discovered, tires and/or tubes must be replaced before operating the bike or injury to operators and/or damage to your bike could occur.
When changing a tire or tube, ensure that all air pressure has been removed from the inner tube prior to removing the tire from the rim. Failure to remove all air pressure from the inner tube could result in serious injury.
Using aftermarket tires or inner tubes, not provided by ride-ebike may void your warranty, create an unsafe riding condition, or damage to your bike. If required by law, ensure replacement aftermarket tires have sufficient reflective sidewall striping.
