6. Setup

6.1. Battery Installation (RN01)

The RN01 model requires 2 x AAA 1.5V batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the back of the device, insert the batteries according to the polarity markings, and close the compartment securely.

6.2. Charging (RN02/RN03)

The RN02 and RN03 models feature a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery (3.7V 350mAh) and a Type-C charging port. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the device and a suitable USB power source (e.g., computer, wall adapter). A full charge takes approximately 2 hours and provides about 72 hours of use.

6.3. Power On/Off

Long press the Power Switch button (Button 3) to turn the device ON or OFF.

7. Operating Modes

The inclinometer supports two primary measurement modes: Absolute and Relative.

Diagram illustrating Relative and Absolute measurement modes for the ANENG Digital Inclinometer. Relative mode shows 0.00 degrees on a flat surface, then 30.00 degrees when tilted to 30 degrees. Absolute mode shows 0.00 degrees on a flat surface, then 15.00 degrees when tilted to 15 degrees.

Image: Relative and Absolute Measurement Modes

7.1. Absolute Measurement Mode

In this mode, the device measures the angle relative to a true horizontal plane (earth's gravity). The display shows the absolute angle of the surface it is placed on.

7.2. Relative Measurement Mode

This mode allows you to set any surface as a reference (0.00°). To use:

  1. Place the inclinometer on your desired reference surface.
  2. Short press the ZERO button (Button 5). The display will show 0.00°.
  3. Move the inclinometer to another surface. The display will now show the angle relative to your set reference surface.
  4. To exit relative mode and return to absolute measurement, short press the ZERO button again.

8. Calibration

The instrument may be affected by impact or temperature changes and needs to be recalibrated to ensure measurement accuracy. Follow these steps for calibration:

Calibration step diagram for ANENG RN03, showing four stages: CRd1, CRd2, CRd3, CRd4. Each stage involves placing the inclinometer on a flat surface, pressing the H/% key, rotating it, and repeating the process until calibration is complete.

Image: Calibration Steps

  1. Turn on the instrument and place it on a flat, horizontal surface.
  2. Long press the Power button and H/% key simultaneously until the display shows "CRd1" and you hear a beep.
  3. Rotate the instrument 180° (upside down) and lay it flat. Press the H/% key to confirm. The display will show "CRd2" and beep.
  4. Rotate the instrument 90° (on its side) and lay it flat. Press the H/% key to confirm. The display will show "CRd3" and beep.
  5. Rotate the instrument 180° (on the opposite side) and lay it flat. Press the H/% key to confirm. The display will show "CRd4" and beep.
  6. Lay the back of the meter up flat. Ensure the button is dangling (not pressed against the surface). Press the H/% key. The display will show "CRd5" and beep.
  7. Flip the meter over (heads up). Press the H/% key. The display will show "CRd6" and beep.
  8. After about 3 seconds, the instrument calibration is completed, and it will enter normal measurement mode.

9. Features and Functions

9.1. 360° Automatic Flip Screen

The display automatically rotates to ensure the numbers are always upright, regardless of the instrument's orientation. This intelligent recognition of direction eliminates the need for head tilt reading.

9.2. Four-sided Strong Magnetic Adsorption

The inclinometer features strong magnets on all four sides, allowing it to firmly attach to metal surfaces for hands-free operation and stable measurements.

9.3. Data Retention (HOLD)

Long press the 'H/%' key (Button 4) to hold the current measurement value on the screen. This makes it easy to record and read values, especially in difficult-to-view positions. Long press again to release.

9.4. Display Unit Toggle

Single press the 'H/%' key (Button 4) to switch between angle (°) and slope (%) display units.

9.5. Horizontal Laser Marking (RN03 Only)

The RN03 model includes a red horizontal laser for precise alignment and marking. Short press the Power Switch button (Button 3) to activate or deactivate the laser.

9.6. Automatic Shutdown

To conserve battery life, the device will automatically shut down if there is no operation for approximately 12 minutes.
