4.2. EPB Reset

The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) reset function allows for safe maintenance of the electronic parking brake system and brake pads. This includes retracting and releasing the brake pump, G-sensor calibration, and body angle calibration. It is necessary to perform an EPB reset after replacing brake pads or if the brake pad wear sensor triggers a warning.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1. Precautions for Diagnosis

  • The device operates within a voltage range of +9V to +36V DC.
  • When performing special functions, follow all on-screen prompts and meet test conditions (e.g., engine water temperature, turning off headlights/AC, accelerator pedal position).
  • If testing is impossible or data is abnormal, search for the vehicle's ECU and select the correct menu based on the ECU nameplate.
  • Ensure vehicle diagnostic software is up-to-date. If issues persist, consult XTOOL technical service.
  • Do not shut down the device directly during a Diagnostics function. Always cancel the task and return to the main interface before powering off.

5.2. Error Codes (DTCs)

The Anyscan A30X can read various types of DTCs:

  • Stored Code: Current emission-related DTCs from the ECM. Higher priority codes overwrite lower ones.
  • Permanent Codes: Emission-related fault codes stored in the ECU's non-volatile memory. These cannot be cleared by standard tools and only clear automatically after the fault is repaired and verified by a drive cycle.
  • Pending Code: Codes whose setting conditions were met in the last drive cycle but require more consecutive drive cycles to set permanently.

If the device shows "System is OK" or "No Trouble Code," it means no related trouble code is stored in the ECU. Some issues might be mechanical or sensor-related, which can be identified through Live Data analysis.

5.3. Warning Light Symbols

The app includes a function to analyze vehicle dashboard warning lights. It helps users match illuminated icons with their risk level (red/yellow), determine the urgency of the fault, and provides the cause of the fault.

5.4. Recall Notice

This function allows you to quickly check if your vehicle is part of a manufacturer recall campaign, contributing to driving safety. You can select the brand, model, and year to query for relevant notices.
