  1. With the device off, connect it to your computer via the USB cable.
  2. Open the "USB DISK" and locate the `MRECSET.txt` file.

Screenshot of MRECSET.txt file showing configuration parameters
Figure 6: Example of MRECSET.txt configuration file.

Parameter Explanations:

  • TIME: Represents date and time settings (year, month, day, hour, minute, second). Must retain 14 digits.
  • GAIN: Adjusts recording sensitivity (0-7). Higher numbers result in louder recording sound.
  • VOR (Voice Activated Recording): Voice control settings (0-10). 0 is off. 1-10 enables voice activation; higher numbers require less sound to activate.
  • BIT (Bit Rate Setting): Sets the recording bitrate.
    • 0: 32kbps
    • 1: 64kbps
    • 2: 128kbps
    • 3: 256kbps
    • 4: 384kbps
    • 5: 512kbps
    • 6: 768kbps
    • 7: 1024kbps
    • 8: 1536kbps
    • 9: 3072kbps
  • PART: Recording segmentation (0-120 minutes). 0 means off (default 2 hours per file).
  • Noise reduction: (0 is off, 1-7 is on). Smaller numbers indicate stronger noise reduction.

9. User Tips

  • For optimal voice-activated recording, experiment with the VOR sensitivity settings (1-10) in the `MRECSET.txt` file to match your environment's noise level. A higher number means it's more sensitive to sound.
  • If you experience issues with the device not being recognized by your computer, try a different USB port or a different USB cable. Sometimes, a simple restart of the computer can also resolve connectivity problems.
  • Remember that the device may come with either a Micro USB or Type-C port. Ensure you use the correct cable for your specific version.
