1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Rti-Tek Tuya Smart Home Thermostat. This battery-powered device offers smart control over your heating system, allowing for precise temperature management and energy savings. It is compatible with gas boiler systems and integrates with popular smart home platforms.

The thermostat features 5 physical buttons and a 1.8-inch TN LCD screen for excellent interaction. It utilizes high-precision temperature sensors and quality relays for accurate temperature measurement and control, ensuring a comfortable home environment. Its easy installation and convenient battery replacement make it user-friendly.

2. Product Overview

2.1. Display Interface and Buttons

The thermostat features a clear LCD display and intuitive buttons for easy interaction. Below is a diagram illustrating the various icons and controls:

Key Display Elements:

  • Week Display: Shows the current day of the week.
  • Time Display: Shows the current time.
  • Child Lock: Indicates if the child lock feature is active.
  • Networking icon: Shows network connection status.
  • Battery power: Indicates battery level.
  • Sensing Temp.: Displays the current room temperature.
  • Frost Protection: Indicates if frost protection is active.
  • Heat on: Shows when the heating system is active.

3. Setup

3.1. Standard Accessories

Please check that all the following items are included in your package:

  • 1 x RF Thermostat
  • 1 x User Manual (this document)
  • 1 x Screw pack

3.2. Battery Installation

The thermostat is powered by 2 x 1.5V alkaline AA batteries. It is recommended to use new, branded alkaline batteries for optimal performance.

  1. Open the battery compartment covers on both sides of the screen by gently prying them open through the crack with your fingers.
  2. Insert 2 AA batteries into the battery compartments, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment covers.

3.3. Mounting

The thermostat is designed for wall-mounted installation.

  1. Insert two screws into the wall-cassette.
  2. Pass the screws through the two holes on the bottom plate of the thermostat.
  3. Adjust the position of the thermostat and tighten the screws to secure it to the wall.

3.4. Wiring Diagram (for Gas Boiler Control)

The thermostat controls your gas boiler using a dry contact signal. Ensure proper wiring to avoid damage to the device or heating system. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about the wiring process.

Wiring Methods:

  • Concealed installation and routing: Wire directly to the connecting terminal.
  • Exposed wiring: Remove the crimping plate and baffle from the base, connect the wires, and then install the crimping plate with a screwdriver.

Note: The thermostat operates at full capacity in areas with an altitude of less than 2500m above sea level. The power rating of the external load should be less than or equal to 80% of the rated power of the thermostat in areas with an altitude of 2500m to 4200m.

3.5. Software Installation (Smart Life App)

To utilize the smart features of your thermostat, download and set up the Smart Life app.

  1. Download Smart Life App: Scan the QR code below or search for "Smart Life" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to download the app.

  2. Registration or Log in: Go to the registration/login interface. Tap "Register" to create an account by entering your email address to get a verification code and set a password. Select "Sign In" if you already have a Smart Life account.
  3. Add Device:
    • Open the app's "Home" screen, tap the "+" icon, select "Add Device" and scroll to the bottom.
    • The system will automatically search and find the device. Click "Add".
    • Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password, then click "Next".
    • Wait for a while until the device is added successfully, then click "Done" to finish the installation.

    Note: Please turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your phone in advance. Ensure that your smartphone OS allows the Smart Life app to access the Bluetooth function.

4. Operation

4.1. Power ON/OFF

Press the power button (Power button icon) shortly to turn the thermostat ON or OFF.

4.2. Time Setting

  1. Press and hold the time key (Time button icon) for 3 seconds to enter time setting mode.
  2. Choose the item to modify (week day, hour, minute) by pressing the time key.
  3. Adjust the selected item using the "+" or "-" buttons.
  4. Finally, confirm by pressing the time key shortly.

4.3. Temperature Control Modes

Press the Mode key (M) shortly to switch between different operating modes:

  • Manual Mode: Adjust the temperature using the "+" or "-" buttons. The setting remains active until manually changed.
  • Auto Mode: The thermostat follows the preset weekly program. Temporary manual overrides are possible.
  • Temporary Mode: Allows for a temporary temperature change that will revert to the programmed schedule after a set period or event.

4.4. Weekly Programming Setting

You can program up to 6 daily heating events for weekdays and weekends to optimize energy usage and comfort.

  1. Hold the Mode key (M) for 3 seconds to enter programming settings.
  2. Press the Mode key (M) to select different programming items (events, times, temperatures).
  3. Use the "+" or "-" buttons to adjust the values.
  4. Press the Mode key (M) to confirm changes and move to the next item.

The programming options include 5/2 week mode, 6/1 week mode, and 7/0 week mode, allowing for flexible scheduling.

4.5. Child Lock Function

The child lock function prevents accidental changes to the thermostat settings.

  1. To activate: Press and hold the "+" and "-" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The child lock icon will appear on the display.
  2. To deactivate: Press and hold the "+" and "-" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds again. The child lock icon will disappear.

4.6. Smart Phone Control (Tuya Smart / Smart Life APP)

Control your thermostat remotely from anywhere using the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. This allows you to adjust settings, monitor temperature statistics, and manage schedules even when you're away from home.

4.7. Voice Control

The thermostat supports voice control through smart speakers like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Yandex Alice, providing hands-free convenience.

Example Voice Commands:

  • Google Home: "Ok Google, Open the HEATER", "Ok Google, Close the HEATER", "Ok Google, Set the HEATER to 26 degree", "Ok Google, What temperature is the HEATER set to?", "Ok Google, Set the HEATER to auto", "Ok Google, Set the HEATER to eco".
  • Amazon Alexa: "Alexa, Open the HEATER", "Alexa, Close the HEATER", "Alexa, Make the HEATER colder", "Alexa, Drop the HEATER by 1 degree", "Alexa, Make the HEATER warmer", "Alexa, Raise the HEATER by 1 degree".

Note: "HEATER" is the default device name, which can be customized in the app. Ensure the temperature unit of the thermostat and smart speaker are identical.

4.8. Backlight Design

The thermostat features an automatic backlight function that turns on at night. The backlight brightness can be customized for different scenes during the day and night.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Low Power Reminder

When the battery voltage drops below 2V, the battery icon on the display will flicker. It is recommended to replace the batteries with new 1.5V alkaline AA batteries as soon as possible to ensure continuous operation.

6. Troubleshooting / Advanced Settings

The advanced settings are typically for professional technicians. Adjusting these settings without proper understanding may affect the thermostat's performance.

  1. During power-off, press the "M" button for 3 seconds to enter advanced setting mode.
  2. Repress "M" to switch to the next mode.
  3. Press the power button (Power button icon) to save and exit advanced setting mode.
