1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your ZTE 5G CPE G5TS wireless router. The G5TS is a high-performance 5G CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) designed to deliver fast and reliable internet connectivity using 5G NR and 4G LTE networks, enhanced with Wi-Fi 6 technology. It is ideal for home and small office environments requiring robust and high-speed wireless and wired connectivity.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 SIM Card Installation

  1. Locate the USIM/SIM slot on the router. This is typically found on the side or bottom panel.
  2. Insert a standard 4FF SIM card (3V/1.8V) into the slot. Ensure the gold contacts are facing down and the notched corner is oriented correctly as indicated by the diagram near the slot.
  3. Push the SIM card gently until it clicks into place.

3.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the provided power adapter to the router's power input port (labeled 'POWER').
  2. Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. The router will automatically power on. Observe the Power LED indicator, which should turn white.

3.3 Network Connection (Wired)

  1. For wired devices such as PCs, game consoles, or smart TVs, connect an Ethernet cable from the device to any of the RJ45 GE (Gigabit Ethernet) LAN ports on the router.
  2. One of the GE ports can also function as a WAN/LAN port, allowing connection to a traditional broadband modem if desired for dual-network backup.

3.4 External Antenna Connection (Optional)

The router supports external antennas for enhanced signal reception in areas with weak cellular coverage. Ensure any external antennas used comply with the TS-9 interface standard and support the B38/B40/B41, n41/n78 frequency bands.

  1. Locate the two TS-9 external antenna ports on the router's rear panel.
  2. Carefully connect compatible external antennas to these ports by aligning and pushing them firmly until they click.
  3. Position the external antennas for optimal signal reception, typically near a window or in an elevated position.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Wi-Fi Connection

  1. On your Wi-Fi enabled device (smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc.), search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  2. Select the SSID (network name) broadcast by your ZTE G5TS router. The default SSID and password are usually printed on a label on the bottom or back of the router.
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.

4.2 NFC Tap-to-Connect

For compatible Android phones and tablets, you can quickly connect to the router's Wi-Fi using NFC (Near Field Communication):

  1. Ensure NFC is enabled on your Android device.
  2. Hold your device near the NFC tag area on the router (refer to device layout for location).
  3. Confirm the connection prompt that appears on your device's screen. This will automatically connect your device to the Wi-Fi network without manual password entry.

4.3 Dual-Network Backup (5G + Wired)

The ZTE G5TS router supports dual-network backup, allowing it to seamlessly switch between 5G cellular and wired broadband connections. This feature ensures continuous internet access and minimizes downtime, prioritizing security and stability for mission-critical applications. The router can be configured to operate in various modes including Automatic (wireless or wire auto switch), Dual WAN, or Hybrid (wireless and wired used simultaneously).

4.4 WPS Button Functionality

The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button allows for easy and secure connection of WPS-compatible devices to your Wi-Fi network without manually entering the password. To use:

  1. Press the WPS button on the router (refer to Figure 2 for location).
  2. Within two minutes, activate the WPS function on your client device (e.g., by pressing its WPS button or selecting WPS in its Wi-Fi settings). The devices will automatically connect.

4.5 Web User Interface (Web UI) Access

To manage advanced settings, monitor network status, and customize your router, access the Web UI:

  1. Connect your device to the router via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
  2. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
  3. In the address bar, enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.1) or URL provided in the router's documentation.
  4. Enter the default username and password (usually found on the router label) to log in. It is recommended to change these default credentials for security.

4.6 ZTE Smartlife App

Manage your router settings and monitor your network conveniently using the ZTE Smartlife mobile application. Download it from your device's respective app store (Google Play Store for Android, Apple App Store for iOS).

5. Maintenance

5.1 Firmware Updates (FOTA/TR069)

The router supports firmware over-the-air (FOTA) and TR069 for automatic updates. It is crucial to keep your router's firmware up-to-date to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Ensure your router is connected to the internet to receive the latest firmware versions.

5.2 Reset Button

To restore the router to its factory default settings, which will erase all custom configurations (Wi-Fi name, password, admin login, etc.):

  1. Ensure the router is powered on.
  2. Locate the Reset button, typically a small pinhole on the rear or bottom panel.
  3. Using a paperclip or similar pointed object, press and hold the Reset button for approximately 10 seconds.
  4. Release the button. The router will restart with factory default settings.

5.3 Cleaning

To maintain the router's performance and appearance, wipe its exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosol sprays, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device.
