6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the tool in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting the OBDII cable excessively to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the OBDII connector is firmly plugged into the vehicle's port and the vehicle's ignition is in the 'ON' position. The device draws power directly from the vehicle.
  • Link Error: If the tool displays a 'Link Error', verify that the ignition is on and the connector is secure. Try connecting to another OBD2-compliant vehicle to rule out a vehicle-specific issue.
  • Codes Not Clearing: After performing repairs, ensure the ignition is on but the engine is off when attempting to clear codes. Some codes may reappear if the underlying issue has not been resolved.
  • Screen Unresponsive: If the screen freezes, disconnect the tool from the vehicle, wait a few seconds, and reconnect it.

8. User Tips

  • Vehicle Compatibility: Ensure your vehicle is OBD2 compliant (most vehicles manufactured in the US after 1996, in the EU after 2001 for petrol and 2004 for diesel).
  • Read Manual First: Always refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for specific information regarding its OBD-II system.
  • Diagnostic Context: While the tool provides codes, understanding the context of the code and performing further inspection is often necessary for accurate diagnosis and repair.
