Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your REV-A-SHELF RV-KD Series Pullout Waste Containers. This system is designed to keep your kitchen waste and recycling organized and discreetly hidden within your base cabinets, while remaining easily accessible.
The unit features a double waste container design, constructed with a durable chrome-plated heavy-gauge wire frame that glides smoothly on full-extension, ball-bearing slides. This ensures reliable performance and convenient access to your waste and recycling bins.
Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure you have all necessary components and tools. The installation process typically takes approximately 15 minutes.
-
Measure Your Cabinet: Carefully measure the interior dimensions of your base cabinet. Pay close attention to the Minimum Cabinet Opening (MCO) requirements to ensure proper fit and clearance, especially around door hinges or plumbing. Refer to the measurement guide below for framed and frameless cabinets.
Figure 1: How to Measure Minimum Cabinet Opening (MCO) Minimum Cabinet Opening (MCO) for Face Frame and Frameless Cabinets:
- Width (W): 11.5 inches (292 mm)
- Depth (D): 21.11 inches
- Height (H): 19.25 inches
The product is suitable for base cabinets with a cabinet opening width of 11.5” to 15”.
-
Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify that all necessary installation components are present. The system includes the chrome-plated wire frame, full-extension ball-bearing slides, two 27-quart polymer bins, and mounting hardware (typically 4 screws for floor mounting).
Figure 2: Product Features and Easy Installation - Mount to Cabinet Floor: Position the pullout unit inside your cabinet on the floor. Ensure it is aligned correctly and centered within the cabinet opening. Secure the unit to the cabinet floor using the provided screws. The unit is rated for a 100 lb. capacity.
- Insert Bins: Place the two 27-quart polymer bins into the wire frame.
-
Optional Door Mount (Sold Separately): If you wish to attach the pullout unit to your cabinet door for a seamless pull-out action, a separate door mount kit (Model 5WB-DMKIT) is required. Remove the integrated handles from the bins if they interfere with the door mount kit. Follow the instructions provided with the door mount kit for installation.

Operating Instructions
Operating your pullout waste containers is straightforward:
- To access the bins, simply pull the unit forward from the cabinet. The full-extension ball-bearing slides will allow the unit to glide smoothly and fully extend for easy access to both bins.
- To close, gently push the unit back into the cabinet until it is fully retracted.
- The bins feature new integrated handles for easy removal and carrying.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your pullout waste containers.
- Bins: The polymer bins can be easily removed for cleaning. Wash with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Rinse thoroughly and dry before returning to the unit.
- Frame and Slides: Wipe the chrome-plated wire frame and ball-bearing slides with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. For stubborn grime, use a mild household cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could damage the finish. Periodically, you may apply a silicone-based lubricant to the slides to maintain smooth operation.
- Rubber Bumpers: Check the rubber bumpers (if present) for wear and tear and replace if necessary to prevent cabinet damage.
Troubleshooting
- Unit does not glide smoothly:
- Check the ball-bearing slides for any obstructions (e.g., food debris, small objects).
- Ensure the slides are clean and free of excessive dust or grime. Lubricate if necessary.
- Verify that the unit is securely mounted to the cabinet floor and that all screws are tight.
- Bins are difficult to remove or insert:
- Ensure the bins are correctly oriented within the wire frame.
- Check for any debris or objects caught between the bin and the frame.
- Unit does not fit in cabinet:
- Re-check your cabinet measurements against the product specifications, paying close attention to width, depth, and height, as well as any internal obstructions.
