5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Virtual Shifting

The VS200 controller allows for real-time simulated gear shifting directly from your handlebars.

  • [+] Button: Tap to upshift, which increases resistance. A blue indicator light confirms the action.
  • [-] Button: Tap to downshift, which reduces resistance. A blue indicator light confirms the action.

This system eliminates the need for frequent traditional physical gear changes, providing a quiet and seamless shifting experience.

6.2. Cleaning

To clean the VS200 controller, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the device's finish or internal components.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device not responding: Ensure the VS200 is charged. Tap any button to wake it from smart standby mode.
  • Cannot connect to trainer/app: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your smart trainer and smartphone. Verify the VS200 is awake and within range. Re-check the configuration in the ThinkRider Tools app if necessary.
  • Shifting not smooth or unresponsive:
    • Ensure your bicycle's chain is on the large chainring and middle cog for optimal chainline.
    • Important Note: Virtual shifting is temporarily disabled when your smart trainer is operating in ERG mode. Switch out of ERG mode for virtual shifting functionality.
    • Re-configure the controller using the ThinkRider Tools app.
  • Battery draining quickly: Ensure the device is fully charged (2 hours for a full charge). If the issue persists, contact customer support.

8. User Tips

  • Compatibility Check: The VS200 is specifically designed for ThinkRider XXPRO, X2, and X2MAX Gen 2 trainers. While it adapts to multi-brand drivetrains, ensure your trainer model is listed for full compatibility.
  • Included Cassette: The package includes one VS200 controller and one virtual cassette.
  • Third-Party App Integration: The VS200 primarily integrates with the ThinkRider Tools app. For compatibility with other cycling platforms (e.g., ROUVY), check the specific platform's documentation or ThinkRider's official support channels for integration details.
  • Optimal Chainline: Always set your physical bike's chain to the large chainring and middle cog for the best virtual shifting experience.
