1. Product Overview

The MMD-EIF68 is a tri-mode wireless ergonomic mechanical keyboard designed for esports gaming and general computer use. It features an aluminum CNC body with a fine powder coating, offering both durability and a premium aesthetic. The keyboard supports QMK/VIA customization, allowing users to freely switch between two directional key layouts and personalize key functions.

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Connection Modes

The MMD EIF68 keyboard supports three connection modes: Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4G wireless, and wired (USB Type-C). You can seamlessly switch between these modes.

3.2 Initial Setup

  1. Wired Connection: Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the keyboard and your computer's USB port. The keyboard will be powered on and ready for use.
  2. 2.4G Wireless Connection:
    • Insert the 2.4G USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
    • Turn on the keyboard and switch to 2.4G mode (refer to keyboard's physical switch or key combination).
    • The keyboard should automatically connect.
  3. Bluetooth Connection:
    • Turn on the keyboard and switch to Bluetooth mode (refer to keyboard's physical switch or key combination).
    • On your computer or device, go to Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
    • Select "MMD EIF68" (or similar name) from the list of available devices to pair.

3.3 Charging the Keyboard

The MMD EIF68 keyboard is equipped with an 8000mAh battery. To charge, connect the keyboard to a computer's USB port using the provided USB Type-C cable. Important: Only charge via a computer's standard USB port. Using fast chargers or other non-computer USB chargers may damage the battery or PCB and will void the warranty.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 QMK/VIA Customization

The MMD EIF68 supports QMK/VIA firmware, allowing extensive customization of key mappings, macros, and lighting effects. This open-source solution provides a multi-language interface (English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese).

  • Key Remapping: Reassign any key to perform a different function.
  • Macros: Create complex sequences of key presses to be triggered by a single key.
  • Multiple Layers: The keyboard supports 8 layers of key values, with over 500 customizable key values. These layers can be configured for various uses such as regular typing, gaming, 3D modeling, video editing, color grading, office tasks, drawing, and connection/lighting settings.
  • Layout Switching: The keyboard's design allows for switching between two directional key layouts by simply replacing keycaps.

To utilize QMK/VIA, download the appropriate software from the official QMK/VIA website and connect your keyboard in wired mode. Follow the software's instructions for customization.

4.2 RGB Lighting

The keyboard features 22 kinds of light effects with 16 million color RGB colorful lights. Specific key combinations or the QMK/VIA software can be used to cycle through lighting modes, adjust brightness, and change colors.

4.3 Hot-Swappable Switches

The MMD EIF68 features full-key hot-swappable switches, allowing you to easily change out mechanical switches without soldering. This enables customization of typing feel and sound.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Disconnect the keyboard from all power sources before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the surface.
  • For dust and debris between keycaps, use compressed air.
  • Keycaps can be removed for deeper cleaning. Use a keycap puller to avoid damage.

5.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life and prevent damage, always charge the keyboard using a standard USB port on a computer. Avoid using high-power or fast-charging adapters.

5.3 Disassembly

The keyboard features a quick-disassembly design with magnetic quick-release top and bottom covers. This facilitates access to internal components for maintenance or modification. Exercise caution when disassembling to avoid damaging internal connections or components.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding:
    • Ensure the keyboard is charged.
    • Check the connection mode (wired, 2.4G, Bluetooth) and ensure it matches your device's connection.
    • For 2.4G, ensure the USB receiver is properly inserted.
    • For Bluetooth, ensure the keyboard is paired and selected in your device's Bluetooth settings.
    • Try restarting your computer or device.
  • Keys not registering:
    • Check for debris under the keycap.
    • If using hot-swappable switches, ensure the switch is properly seated in its socket.
    • Test with a different connection mode if possible.
  • RGB lighting not working:
    • Ensure the keyboard is powered on.
    • Check lighting settings via QMK/VIA software or keyboard shortcuts.
  • Charging issues:
    • Ensure you are using a computer's standard USB port for charging.
    • Try a different USB port or cable.

8. User Tips & What to Expect

  • Manufacturing Tolerances: Minor flaws such as pinholes, air bubbles, nicks, or black spots up to 1mm on the keyboard's side and bottom are within manufacturing tolerances.
  • Visual Appearance: From a typical viewing distance of 2.30cm, the keyboard should not have obvious processing marks, scratches, or dents. Edge rounding is allowed, and slight processing marks at joints are permitted.
  • Acrylic Base: Minor particles or black dots on the bottom frosted acrylic base (diameter <0.5mm, spacing >50mm, quantity ≤5) and slight scratches (width ≤1mm, length ≤5mm, quantity ≤3) are considered normal.
  • Internal Marks: Normal internal knife marks and minor chips on chamfered corners are typical phenomena.
  • Color Variation: Slight color differences may occur due to screen settings, environmental lighting, etc. Efforts are made to ensure color consistency, but minor variations are possible.

9. Warranty and Support

Damage to the keyboard's battery or PCB caused by charging with non-computer USB chargers (e.g., fast chargers) is not covered under warranty. Please adhere to the recommended charging method to ensure product longevity and maintain warranty validity.
