1. Introduction

The AUTOTOP Wireless CarPlay and Android Multimedia Module is an innovative in-vehicle device designed to integrate your smartphone's features with your vehicle's entertainment system. This module utilizes advanced technology to enable efficient communication and interaction between your mobile phone and your car. It allows you to project various applications, navigation, calls, music, messages, and other functions from your phone directly onto your vehicle's display, enhancing the driving experience and safety.

This module supports the latest "audio and picture separation" technology, allowing seamless connection to Apple and Huawei mobile phones for operation on the original car screen.

3. Package Contents

Please verify that all the following items are included in your package:

4. Setup and Installation

Important: Before beginning installation, ensure the vehicle is completely powered off to prevent damage to the electrical system.

4.1 General Installation Steps

  1. Preparation: Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected if necessary.
  2. Connect the Device: Connect the Carplay decoder with the corresponding interfaces of the vehicle's multimedia system.
  3. Wiring: Follow the detailed wiring diagram provided below to connect the power, LVDS, microphone, WIFI antenna, and AUX activator.
  4. Secure Connections: Ensure all cable connections are secure and latched properly.
  5. DIP Switch Configuration: Configure the DIP switches on the module according to your specific Opel model and screen size (6-inch or 7-inch) using the table provided in the diagram.
  6. Testing: After installation, reconnect the battery and test the system functionality.

Key points from the diagram:

  • Power Connections: Yellow B+ (Power), Red ACC (Ignition), Black GND (Ground).
  • Camera Connections: Blue wire for camera power supply (connect to rear or front camera power). Brown wire for reverse detection (connects to reverse light wire or 360 panorama detection wire). White/Black wire for 360-RV (connect to GND of 360 panorama, universal).
  • Audio/Video Inputs: REAR CVBS for rear camera or 360 panorama/RVD output. FRONT CVBS for front camera. AUX for audio output.
  • USB Port: For phone connection, USB drive, or software upgrade.
  • Antenna Placement: The WIFI antenna should not be attached to metallic surfaces.
  • DIP Switch Note: If the recommended DIP code does not work, try replacing it with a different DIP code. When changing the DIP code, ensure the MMI Box power cable is disconnected.

4.3 Reverse Camera Wiring

The diagram illustrates two common reverse camera wiring setups: one for a direct 12V camera connection and another for reverse detection. Ensure proper grounding (GND) and use the provided 6m cables. A rectifier version is also shown for specific camera types.

In the system settings, you can configure advanced features for cameras:

  • Parking Guideline: ON/OFF
  • Park Distance Control: ON/OFF
  • Aftermarket Camera | Original Camera: Select the type of camera installed.
  • Rear Camera | 360 Panoramic: Select the rear camera type.
  • AHD Camera Type: If adding an AHD camera, select the frame rate here.
  • Factory USB Switch: For system diagnostics or updates.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Wireless CarPlay Connection

  1. On your car's screen, navigate to the wireless CarPlay settings.
  2. Click on "Discover and connect devices" to bring up the CX_BT interface.
  3. On your iPhone, turn on Bluetooth and search for the device named "CX_BTFC4BCEBC7C9C". Connect to it.
  4. Once connected and paired, click "use carplay" on your iPhone.
  5. The wireless CarPlay connection should be established successfully.

Note for first-time connection:

  • Manually complete the Bluetooth pairing on your iPhone.
  • Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your phone for the wireless CarPlay connection to complete.
  • After the initial setup, the system will automatically connect when you start the car.
  • Alternatively, for the first-time connection, you can make a wired connection via USB. Enable wireless CarPlay on your phone as prompted. The wireless connection will automatically establish after 15 seconds of unplugging the data cable.

5.2 Wireless Android Auto Connection

  1. On your car's screen, navigate to the wireless Android Auto settings.
  2. Click on "pairing" and the "CX-BT_" device will appear.
  3. On your Android phone, turn on Bluetooth and search for "CX_BT_". Connect to it.
  4. After successful pairing, you will enter the Android Auto interface on your car's screen.

5.3 USB Flash Playback

Insert a USB drive into the module's USB port. The system will automatically jump to the USB interface, supporting audio and 720P video playback.

5.4 System Settings

  • Audio Settings: Adjust Volume, MIC Sensitivity, EQ. Toggle "Original MIC" ON/OFF. Enable/disable "Automatic echo cancellation".
  • Automatic Echo Cancellation: If experiencing echo, adjust the volume of the original vehicle to 74 ~ 77dBspl. Ensure the microphone connection is normal.
  • Language Setting: Select your preferred language (e.g., English, Português, Türk, Deutsch, Polski, Pусский, Nederlands).
  • Sound Channel:
    • Using original external sound aux: Set "use the original Bluetooth audio" to OFF.
    • Using original Bluetooth audio: Set "use the original Bluetooth audio" to ON. (Note: The phone needs to be connected to the original Bluetooth audio.)

    Audio settings are commonly operated as shown in the diagram, and default values are generally recommended.

  • Reset System: Options include "Information", "About Version", "Reset", and "Factory Reset".
  • Driver Position: Select "Left" or "Right" driving position.

5.5 Steering Wheel Button Functions

The module integrates with your original steering wheel controls:

  • Long press: Answer call
  • Short press: Activate voice control (when not using original Bluetooth)
  • Short press: Hang up phone
  • Short press: Volume up/down
  • Short press: Previous/Next track
  • Long press: Switch system

5.6 Central Control Knob Instructions

The central control knob functions are as follows:

  • Long press: Switch system
  • Rotate: Move cursor
  • Short press: Confirm
  • Long press: Confirm to activate vector control

5.7 Voice Assistant

Utilize your smartphone's voice assistant (Siri or Google Assistant) for hands-free operation. Simply activate voice control and issue commands such as:

  • "Play [Artist/Album]"
  • "Navigate to [Destination]"
  • "How's the weather today?"
  • "Call [Contact Name]"

5.8 Mirrored Screens (Airplay & Autolink)

The Carplay Smart Module supports screen mirroring software like Wireless Autolink and Wireless Airplay, allowing you to cast your phone's screen to the car display for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the module and cables. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Cable Management: Ensure all cables are neatly routed and secured to prevent damage or interference.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for software updates from the manufacturer to ensure optimal performance and compatibility. Updates can typically be performed via the USB port.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the module to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or excessive moisture.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power/No Display:
    • Check all power connections (Yellow B+, Red ACC, Black GND) as per the wiring diagram.
    • Ensure the vehicle's ignition is on.
    • Verify the LVDS cable connection to both the module and the car display.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto Not Connecting:
    • Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your smartphone.
    • Confirm the correct device (CX_BT_) is selected and paired in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
    • For first-time connection, try connecting via USB first, then enable wireless CarPlay/Android Auto.
    • Check the DIP switch settings on the module to ensure they match your car model and screen size. If issues persist, try a different DIP code as noted in the installation diagram, ensuring to disconnect power before changing.
    • Restart both your phone and the car's multimedia system.
  • Audio Echo/Poor Microphone Quality:
    • Adjust the volume of the original vehicle to 74 ~ 77dBspl in the Audio Settings.
    • Ensure the external microphone is properly connected and positioned (e.g., on the sun visor).
    • Check the "Automatic echo cancellation" setting in the Audio Settings.
    • Verify the "Sound channel" setting is appropriate for your audio setup (original external AUX or original Bluetooth audio).
  • No Reverse Camera Display:
    • Check the REAR CVBS connection and the camera power supply.
    • Ensure the reverse detection wire (Brown) is correctly connected to the reverse light signal.
    • Verify camera settings in the "Advanced Features" menu (e.g., Aftermarket Camera | Original Camera, AHD Camera Type).
  • System Freeze/Unresponsive:
    • Perform a soft reset by turning off the car's ignition and restarting.
    • If the issue persists, consider a "Reset" or "Factory Reset" from the System Settings menu (Note: Factory Reset will erase custom settings).

8. User Tips

  • Initial Connection: For the most reliable first-time connection, consider using a wired USB connection to set up CarPlay or Android Auto. Once configured, the wireless connection should be automatic on subsequent uses.
  • Audio Optimization: If you experience any audio issues like echo, fine-tune the vehicle's original volume and the module's MIC sensitivity settings. The recommended original vehicle volume is 74-77dBspl.
  • DIP Switch Caution: Always disconnect the module's power cable before adjusting the DIP switches to prevent potential damage.
  • Voice Control Efficiency: Familiarize yourself with common voice commands for navigation, music, and calls to maximize hands-free convenience and safety.
