4.2 Understanding Battery Voltage

NOHON 1.5V rated rechargeable lithium batteries may show readings between 1.2V and 1.5V when unused. This is a normal variance due to storage and meter tolerance and is not a defect. The batteries are fully compatible with all 1.5V devices.

5. Maintenance and Storage

5.1 General Maintenance

  • Keep the batteries and charging case clean and dry.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the batteries and charger to strong impacts.
  • Regularly inspect the batteries for any signs of damage, swelling, or leakage. Discontinue use immediately if any damage is observed.

5.2 Long-Term Storage

If you do not plan to use the batteries for an extended period (e.g., several months), follow these guidelines:

  • Charge the batteries once every 1-2 months to maintain battery activity. Long-term storage without charging may lead to full discharge, which can damage the battery and reduce its lifespan.
  • Store the batteries and charging case in a dry, well-ventilated environment.
  • Keep them away from high temperatures, direct sunlight, and humidity.
  • The charging case can also be used as a storage box to keep your batteries organized and protected.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Charging Indicators

  • Flashing Green LED: Battery is currently charging.
  • Solid Green LED: Battery is fully charged.
  • Flashing Red LED: Indicates an incompatible battery has been inserted. Remove the battery immediately.
  • Solid Red LED: Indicates high temperature. Disconnect the charger and allow it to cool down in a well-ventilated area.

The charger features a Smart Self-Test function to detect battery mismatch, overheating, or overcurrent conditions.

6.2 Common Issues

  • Batteries not charging:
    • Ensure the batteries are NOHON rechargeable Li-ion batteries and not NiMH or alkaline.
    • Check that the USB-Type C cable is securely connected to both the charger and the power source.
    • Verify the power source is providing sufficient power (e.g., 5V/3A).
    • Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
  • Battery capacity seems low:
    • Ensure batteries have been fully charged before use.
    • If stored for a long time without charging, the battery might have deep discharged. Regular charging during storage is recommended.
    • The stated cycle life (1200/1600 cycles) refers to maintaining over 80% capacity. Capacity will gradually decline after many cycles.
  • Voltage reading is not exactly 1.5V:
    • As explained in Section 4.2, a reading between 1.2V and 1.5V (especially under load or when unused) is normal for 1.5V rated rechargeable lithium batteries and does not indicate a defect.

10. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Can NOHON rechargeable lithium batteries be charged with a regular charger?
A1: No. They must be charged with the dedicated NOHON lithium battery charger. Using other chargers may cause safety hazards.
Q2: Can the NOHON dedicated lithium battery charger charge NiMH or alkaline batteries?
A2: No. The NOHON dedicated charger is designed only for NOHON rechargeable lithium batteries. Charging other battery types may lead to danger and must be avoided.
Q3: Can the product be used immediately after receiving it?
A3: Yes. NOHON rechargeable lithium batteries come with a pre-charged level. However, for optimal performance, we recommend fully charging the battery before first use.
Q4: Can NOHON lithium batteries be taken on an airplane?
A4: Yes. They should be carried in hand luggage rather than checked baggage. According to CAAC regulations, lithium batteries must not exceed 160Wh. Each NOHON cell is 3.3Wh, which meets the requirement.
Q5: Are the batteries environmentally friendly?
A5: NOHON rechargeable lithium batteries have passed multiple safety and environmental tests and are mercury-free, offering safe, non-toxic use for households and children.
Q6: What is the product shelf life?
A6: 12 months. If you encounter any issues, please contact the platform or customer service.
Q7: Notes on choosing a charging cable?
A7: We recommend using the cable provided by NOHON or a certified cable produced by a reputable manufacturer that meets national standards. Do not use "3-in-1" or "multi-functional" charging cables, as they may cause damage or other safety risks.
Q8: Does "1200 cycles" mean the battery can be used 1200 times?
A8: "1200 charge-discharge cycles" means that after 1200 full charge-discharge cycles, the battery capacity remains above 80%. The battery can still be used after 1200 cycles, but capacity will gradually decline. This is normal for all rechargeable batteries. NOHON batteries degrade more slowly compared to similar products.
Q9: How to prevent battery damage if the NOHON lithium battery is not used for a long time?
A9: If you don't use the battery for an extended period, charge it once every 1-2 months to maintain battery activity. Long-term storage without charging may lead to full discharge, which can damage the battery. Store the battery in a dry, well-ventilated environment, away from high temperatures or humidity.
