The BFOUR Wireless Meat Thermometer is an intelligent cooking device designed to provide precise temperature control and remote monitoring for various cooking methods. 5. Setup Guide

5.1 Charging the Device

  1. Before first use, fully charge the main unit and probes.
  2. Connect the provided Type-C cable to the charging port on the main unit and a suitable USB power adapter.
  3. For probes, insert them into the charging slots on the main unit.
  4. The main unit takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge, providing up to 24 hours of use. Probes take about 10 minutes to charge for 30 hours of use.

5.2 App Installation

  1. Download the 'BFOUR+' app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account or log in.

5.3 Initial Pairing (Bluetooth & WiFi)

  1. Ensure your smartphone's Bluetooth is enabled and your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
  2. Power on the BFOUR main unit by pressing the power button.
  3. The main unit will automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode. Open the BFOUR+ app, and it should detect the device. Follow the app prompts to complete Bluetooth pairing.
  4. Once connected via Bluetooth, the app will guide you through connecting the main unit to your home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. This enables remote monitoring.
  5. Note: The device only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Ensure your router is configured accordingly or select the 2.4GHz band if you have a dual-band router.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Inserting the Probe

  1. Carefully insert the smart probe into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bones. Ensure the probe is inserted deep enough so that the internal temperature sensors are fully within the meat.
  2. The probe also has an ambient temperature sensor, which should be exposed to the cooking environment (e.g., inside the oven or grill) to measure the surrounding temperature.

6.2 Monitoring Temperature

You can monitor temperatures directly from the main unit or via the BFOUR+ app.

6.2.1 Using the Main Unit

  • The large LCD display on the main unit shows the current internal temperature of the meat and the ambient cooking temperature.
  • Use the up/down arrow buttons to navigate through different probe readings (if using multiple probes).
  • Press the menu button to access settings like temperature unit switching (°C/°F) or to select preset temperatures.
  • The main unit can also set alarms without needing your phone.

6.2.2 Using the BFOUR+ App

  • Open the BFOUR+ app on your smartphone.
  • The app will display real-time temperature readings for all connected probes.
  • You can select from 12 preset menus for different types of meat and desired doneness levels.
  • Set custom target temperatures and ambient temperature ranges.
  • View live temperature graphs to track cooking progress.
  • Receive smart alerts on your phone when the target temperature is reached, or if temperatures deviate from the set range.
  • Access cloud data and historical cooking trends for future reference.

6.3 Dual Probe Functionality (BF-80 Model)

The BF-80 model comes with two probes, allowing you to monitor two different cuts of meat or track both internal meat temperature and ambient grill temperature simultaneously. The main unit and app will display readings for both probes (e.g., 'Black' and 'White' probes).

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • The smart probes are IP67 waterproof and water/oil resistant. They can be safely cleaned under running water or placed in a dishwasher.
  • The main unit (booster) is NOT waterproof. Clean it with a damp cloth. Do not submerge it in water or expose it to excessive moisture.
  • Ensure all components are dry before storing.

7.2 Storage

  • Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • The main unit has a magnetic back for convenient storage on metallic surfaces.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the main unit and probes are fully charged. Connect to the Type-C charging cable.
  • No Bluetooth Connection: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and the main unit is powered on and within range. Restart both the app and the main unit.
  • No Wi-Fi Connection: Verify your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. Check your router settings. Ensure the main unit is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Re-enter Wi-Fi credentials in the app if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Temperature Readings: Ensure the probe is inserted correctly into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bones. Calibrate the ambient temperature if needed via the app (BF-70 supports calibratable ambient temp).
  • Lost Signal Alerts: If the probe loses connection to the main unit, an alert will sound. Ensure the probe and main unit are within effective range and there are no significant obstructions.
  • App Not Responding: Close and reopen the BFOUR+ app. If the issue persists, restart your smartphone.

9. User Tips

  • For best results, always preheat your oven or grill to the desired temperature before inserting the probe into the meat.
  • When cooking larger cuts of meat, consider using the dual probes (BF-80) to monitor different sections for more even cooking.
  • Utilize the cloud data feature in the BFOUR+ app to track your cooking successes and learn from past cooks. This can help you refine your techniques for various dishes.
  • Take advantage of the magnetic feature on the main unit to keep it conveniently located on your grill, oven, or refrigerator during cooking.
