4. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your OPTFOCUS 4G LTE WiFi Router:

  1. Insert Micro SIM Card: Locate the SIM card slot on the back panel of the router. Carefully insert your Micro SIM card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the SIM card is inserted in the correct orientation as indicated on the device.

  2. Connect Power Adapter: Connect the provided DC power adapter to the router's DC power input port and then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  3. Power On: The router will automatically power on and begin to establish a connection to the 4G LTE network. The indicator lights on the front panel will show the status of the network connection.
  4. Connect Devices (Wired): For wired connections, use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer, printer, or other network devices to any of the four LAN ports on the router's back panel.

  5. Connect Devices (Wireless): To connect devices wirelessly, search for the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) broadcast by the router on your device (e.g., smartphone, laptop). The default SSID and password are usually printed on a label on the bottom of the router. Select the SSID and enter the password to connect.

5. Operating Instructions

Once set up, your OPTFOCUS router provides seamless internet access. Here are some key operational aspects:

  • Internet Access: The router automatically connects to the 4G LTE network via the inserted SIM card, providing internet access to all connected wired and wireless devices.
  • Wi-Fi 6 Performance: The router supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) protocol, offering a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi transmission rate of up to 300Mbps. This ensures stable and fast connections for up to 32 simultaneous users.

6. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your router, please follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the router within the specified temperature range of -10℃ to 45℃. Avoid exposing it to extreme heat, cold, or direct sunlight.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the router in a dry place with temperatures between -25℃ and 70℃.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the router's exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the router is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block the ventilation openings.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates to improve performance and security. (General advice, as no specific update method is provided).

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your router, try the following solutions:

  • No Internet Connection:
    • Check if the SIM card is correctly inserted and activated with a data plan.
    • Ensure the router is powered on and the indicator lights show a stable 4G connection.
    • Restart the router by unplugging the power adapter, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in.
    • Verify that your device is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network or LAN port.
  • Slow Wi-Fi Speed:
    • Ensure your devices are within the router's Wi-Fi range.
    • Reduce the number of connected devices if exceeding 32.
    • Check for interference from other electronic devices.
    • Consider repositioning the router for better signal coverage.
  • Cannot Access Router Settings:
    • Ensure your device is connected to the router's network.
    • Use the default IP address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) in your web browser.
    • If you forgot the login credentials, you may need to perform a factory reset.
  • Factory Reset: If the router is not functioning correctly, you can perform a factory reset. Locate the 'Reset' button on the back panel (Figure 4.3). With the router powered on, use a paperclip or a thin object to press and hold the Reset button for about 5-10 seconds until the indicator lights flash. The router will restart with factory default settings.

8. User Tips

  • SIM Card Compatibility: This router supports various 4G LTE and 3G bands (FDD LTE: B1/B3/B7/B8/B20/B28; TDD LTE: B38/B40/B41; WCDMA: B1/B8). While designed for global use, it is recommended to verify compatibility with your local mobile operator's network bands before use, especially for specific regions like Colombia, to ensure optimal performance.

  • Placement for Best Signal: For the best 4G LTE and Wi-Fi signal, place the router in an open area, away from obstructions and other electronic devices that might cause interference. The external high-gain antennas (Figure 8.2) are designed to maximize signal strength.
