1. Introduction

The ALIENTEK HP20 Hot Plate is a compact and portable heating tool designed for precision soldering, reflow soldering, and various repair applications. Featuring a 200W heating power, PD3.1 fast charging protocol support, and PID temperature control, it offers stable and accurate heating up to 350°C. Its full-aluminum body ensures efficient heat dissipation and durability.

2. Safety Information

Please read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before using this product to prevent injury or damage. Keep this manual for future reference.

  • Always use the device in a well-ventilated area.
  • Do not touch the heating plate surface during operation or immediately after use, as it will be extremely hot. Use the included silicone cover for safety when handling.
  • Ensure only one power input (DC or Type-C) is connected at a time to prevent damage to the device.
  • Keep the device away from flammable materials, liquids, and children.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device.
  • In case of over-temperature, over-current, or input abnormality, the device is equipped with comprehensive protection features. However, always monitor the device during operation.
  • Use only compatible power adapters (20V~28V DC or PD3.1/PD3.0/PD2.0 Type-C chargers).

4. Product Overview

The HP20 Hot Plate features a CNC full-aluminum body, providing an engineering-grade structure and thermal design. The body itself acts as a heat sink, offering high rigidity, natural shielding, and discharge capabilities.

4.1 Key Features

  • Multiple Power Supply Methods: Supports DC (20V~28V) and Type-C (PD3.1/PD3.0/PD2.0) inputs.

5. Setup

5.1 Power Connection

The HP20 Hot Plate supports two types of power input:

  • DC Power Adapter: Connect a 20V~28V DC power adapter to the DC5521 port.
  • Type-C Port: Connect a 140W/100W/65W GaN charger or power bank (with fast charging support) to the Type-C port.

Important: Only one of the DC port or Type-C port can be used at a time. Do not use both simultaneously, as this may damage the device.

5.2 Initial Placement

Place the HP20 Hot Plate on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate clearance around the device for ventilation. For safety and to protect the heating surface, gently place the included heat-resistant silicone cover on the heating plate.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Once connected to a power source, the device will power on automatically. To power off, navigate through the menu settings (refer to Section 6.4) or disconnect the power source.

6.2 Temperature Control and Heating Modes

The HP20 offers rapid and precise temperature control. It can heat from room temperature to 260°C in approximately 120 seconds when operating at 200W.

The device supports three primary operating modes:

  • Constant Temperature Heating: Maintain a stable temperature for general heating tasks. The HP20 supports a maximum temperature of 350°C.
  • Reflow Soldering: Utilizes stage-by-stage temperature control for simulated reflow soldering, ensuring intelligent temperature management and precise heating profiles.
  • Repair Mode: Designed for mobile phone repair, supporting integration with third-party repair platforms. This mode allows for temperature calibration and preset scenarios for tasks like debonding, delamination, laminating, and solder ball mounting.

6.3 Adjustable Heating Power

The HP20 allows for adjustable heating power from 65W to 200W. This flexibility ensures compatibility with various power adapters. The device features PD Intelligent Adaptive Power, automatically matching and selecting the maximum PD output power from your fast charger without user intervention.

6.4 Menu Settings Interface

The device features an intuitive menu for adjusting various parameters, including sleep time, power output, and temperature calibration. It supports multiple languages and temperature units (Celsius/Fahrenheit).

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Ensure the device is completely cool and unplugged before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For the heating plate, carefully remove any residue with a non-abrasive tool or solvent suitable for metal surfaces, ensuring no liquid enters the device.
  • Storage: Store the HP20 in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.
  • Silicone Cover: The silicone cover can be cleaned with mild soap and water. Ensure it is completely dry before placing it back on the heating plate.

8. Firmware Update

The HP20 supports local mode firmware upgrades. To update the firmware, connect the device to a host computer and use the dedicated ATK-HP20 UPGRADE software. Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the software.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the power cable is securely connected and the power source is active. Verify that only one power input (DC or Type-C) is connected.
  • Heating is slow or inconsistent: Check the power adapter wattage. For optimal performance, use a 200W compatible power source. Ensure the heating power setting in the menu is appropriate for your task.
  • "Heating timeout" message: This indicates a safety feature has been triggered. Check for any obstructions on the heating plate or excessive temperature. Allow the device to cool down before resuming operation.
  • Display issues: Try restarting the device. If the issue persists, check for available firmware updates.
