Setup and Operation

1. Initial Setup

Your BENYAR BY-5163M watch comes with a battery installed. Before wearing, you may need to set the time and date.

2. Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch) out to the furthest position (Position 2).
  2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the hands and set the correct time.
  3. Once the time is set, push the crown back into its original position (Position 0) to start the watch movement.

3. Setting the Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the first position (Position 1).
  2. Turn the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this is when the watch's internal mechanism is engaged in changing the date, and manual adjustment can cause damage.
  3. Once the date is set, push the crown back into its original position (Position 0).

4. Water Resistance Guidelines

Your watch is 5 ATM (50 meters) water-resistant. This means it is suitable for daily use, hand washing, sweat, rain, and swimming in shallow water. However, it is crucial to observe the following:

  • Ensure the crown head is always tightened before any exposure to water.
  • Do NOT operate the watch underwater (e.g., pressing buttons or pulling the crown).
  • The leather band is NOT recommended to touch water frequently, as it can shorten its lifespan.
  • The watch does NOT support showering, hot water, hot springs, or diving. Exposure to steam or hot water can compromise the seals.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

  • Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth regularly to remove dust and smudges.
  • For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture. If it gets wet, dry it gently with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry completely away from direct heat.
  • Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.

2. Water Resistance Care

Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in and tightened after setting the time or date to maintain water resistance. If the watch is exposed to saltwater, rinse it gently with fresh water and dry thoroughly.

3. Battery Replacement

The watch uses a quartz movement and is powered by a battery. When the watch stops or the second hand starts skipping, it's an indication that the battery needs replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure the water resistance seals are properly re-seated.

4. Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in its original box or a watch case, to protect it from dust, moisture, and scratches.
