Key sections in the app include:

  • Current Status: Indicates whether someone is detected ("有人") or not ("无人").
  • Illuminance Reading: Displays the current light level in lux and its update time.
  • Sensing Settings: Adjust detection parameters.
  • Sensing Record: View historical detection events.
  • Illuminance Record: Access historical light level data.
  • Smart Scenes: Configure automation rules based on sensor data.

6.2. Sensing Modes and Sensitivity

The ES5 sensor supports different sensing modes and adjustable sensitivity to adapt to various environments and needs.

Sensing range in pure radar mode
Sensing range in pure radar mode, showing detection for movement and static presence.
Sensing range in fusion mode
Sensing range in fusion mode, illustrating radial and tangential motion trigger types.

The sensor offers a "Fusion mode" and "Pure radar mode".

Feature Fusion Mode Pure Radar Mode
Sports Exploration (Measuring Range) Decided by infrared pyroelectric and two radar sensors Decided by radar settings
Existential Exploration (Measuring Range) Decided by radar settings Decided by radar settings
Advantages Strong anti-interference Large motion detection range

Note: The above data is measured by Linptech Laboratory at a height of 1.2 meters on the side, and the actual use environment may vary. The fusion mode uses radar and infrared to detect when someone is triggered and maintains the holder only relies on radar to maintain the same range of people as the "pure radar mode". The sensing range is measured at an environment of 23°C, and the ambient temperature will decrease when it becomes higher. The sensing range of the small infrared is subject to actual use.

6.3. Power Supply Methods

The ES5 sensor offers three power supply options:

  1. Battery-powered: Uses a CR2450 button battery, providing up to 2 years of battery life under typical usage conditions.
  2. Power Adapter Power Supply: Connects via a standard USB Type-C interface (5V==0.02A). When connected, the sensor automatically switches to power adapter supply. It is recommended to remove the button battery when using a power adapter for extended periods.
  3. Light Energy Board Mini Power Supply: An optional accessory that extends battery life by converting light energy. It has a built-in energy storage device and voltage monitoring. When power generation is insufficient, it automatically switches to battery power supply.

Note: The Light Energy Board Mini needs to be purchased separately. While the light energy board and battery can be used simultaneously, using the battery and power adapter at the same time is not recommended. The light energy board can also power the sensor independently when fully charged.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Battery Replacement

When the battery needs replacement, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Sensor: Press down on the buckle (red area) and simultaneously rotate the sensor cover to open it.
  2. Replace Battery: Remove the old CR2450 battery and insert a new one, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Close the Sensor: Rotate the cover back into place until it clicks securely.

7.2. Cleaning

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the sensor's exterior.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays, as these may damage the device.
  • Ensure no moisture enters the device during cleaning.

8. Troubleshooting

During sensor installation and debugging, you may encounter the following common issues:

  1. Lights not turning off normally after people leave: This can occur if the sensor's sensitivity or placement is not optimized.
  2. Lights accidentally turning off when people are present: This might indicate the sensor is misinterpreting presence or has interference.
  3. False triggers in pure radar mode: Environmental factors or incorrect sensitivity settings can lead to unwanted detections.

For detailed debugging methods and solutions to these problems, please refer to the teaching videos on Linptech's official account (scan the QR code in the Mijia APP's help section) or check the ES5 homepage in the Mijia APP under "User Guide" -> "Common Problems".

General Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Check Power: Ensure the battery is not depleted or the power adapter is correctly connected.
  • Reset Device: Long-press the button for 5 seconds to reset the sensor and re-pair it with the Mijia APP.
  • Adjust Sensitivity: Use the Mijia APP to adjust the infrared and radar sensitivity settings to match your environment.
  • Scan for Interference: The app allows scanning for interference sources and automatically adjusting sensitivity.
  • Verify Gateway Connection: Ensure your Mijia Bluetooth gateway is online and within range of the sensor.
  • App Updates: Keep your Mijia APP updated to the latest version for optimal performance and features.

9. User Tips

  • Optimal Placement: For best results, place the sensor where it has a clear line of sight to the primary activity area. Avoid placing it directly facing heat sources or areas with frequent air currents, which can cause false triggers.
  • Smart Scene Integration: Leverage the Mijia APP's smart scene capabilities. For example, set up automation to turn on lights when presence is detected and turn them off after a set period of no presence.
  • Consider the Light Energy Board: If you prefer not to rely on battery replacement or wired power, the optional Light Energy Board Mini can provide a sustainable power solution, especially in well-lit areas.
  • Regular Monitoring: Periodically check the sensor's status and lighting reports in the Mijia APP to ensure it's functioning as expected and to fine-tune settings.
  • Chinese Server Requirement: Remember that for Mijia app integration, you might need to switch your Mijia app server to the Chinese mainland region.
