1. Introduction

2. Product Overview

The Free3 features a compact design with three mechanical keys, a gear shift switch for mode selection, a power switch, and a Type-C charging port. It supports hot-swappable key switches and DIY keycaps for personalization.

3. Setup

3.1. Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge your Free3 device using the provided Type-C data cable. Connect the cable to the Type-C port on the device and a suitable USB power source. The indicator light will show charging status.

Note: To maintain battery health, avoid long-term power depletion. Charge the device approximately every month if not in regular use.

3.2. Power On/Off

Locate the ON/OFF switch on the side of the device. Slide the switch to the 'ON' position to power on the Free3. Slide it to 'OFF' to power off.

3.3. Device Pairing

The Free3 features a gear shift switch to select the appropriate mode for your device. Ensure the Free3 is powered on before pairing.

  1. Select Mode: Use the gear shift switch (R/M/P) to select the mode corresponding to your device:
    • **R (Reader Mode):** For E-readers (Bluetooth Name: Free3-R)
    • **M (Mobile Mode):** For Mobile Phones/Tablets (Android/iOS) (Bluetooth Name: Free3-M)
    • **P (PC Mode):** For Win/Mac Computers (Bluetooth Name: Free3-P)
  2. Activate Bluetooth: On your target device (e-reader, phone, tablet, computer), enable Bluetooth.
  3. Search for Device: Search for available Bluetooth devices. You should see 'Free3-R', 'Free3-M', or 'Free3-P' depending on the selected mode.
  4. Pair: Select the appropriate 'Free3' device from the list to pair. Once paired, the indicator light on the Free3 may change or stabilize.

Important: The Free3 can only connect to one device at a time. If your computer lacks Bluetooth, please purchase a Bluetooth receiver separately.

4. Operating Instructions

Once paired, the Free3 allows you to control various functions on your connected device.

4.1. General Functions

  • Page Turning: Use the Previous Page and Next Page keys to navigate through e-books, documents, or web pages.
  • Media Control: A single press of the designated function key (refer to Figure 2) will Play/Pause media.
  • Screen Lock: A long press of the designated function key (refer to Figure 2) will lock the screen of your mobile device.
  • Volume Control: The device supports volume adjustment. Specific key assignments may vary slightly depending on the connected device and mode.

4.2. Specific Mode Functions

  • E-reader Mode (R): Primarily for page turning in e-reading applications. Compatible with 98% of e-readers.
  • Mobile/Tablet Mode (M): Controls short video apps (e.g., Douyin, Quick worker, Xiaohongshu) for scrolling, liking, and play/pause. Also supports music switching (e.g., KuGou, QQ, NetEase Cloud) and remote photo/video recording using the original camera app.
  • PC Mode (P): Facilitates PPT/PDF page turning for presentations and document viewing. Supports web browsing across unlimited browsers.

4.3. Deep Sleep Mode and Reconnection

The Free3 enters a deep sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity to save power. To wake the device, simply press any key. Bluetooth will automatically reconnect to the last paired device. There is no need to manually search for Bluetooth in your phone settings for reconnection.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Battery Care

To prolong the battery life, avoid completely draining the battery for extended periods. It is recommended to charge the device approximately once a month, even if not in use.

The Free3 supports hot-swappable mechanical switches and DIY keycaps, allowing you to personalize its feel and appearance.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Device Not Connecting via Bluetooth

  • Ensure the Free3 is powered on and sufficiently charged.
  • Verify that the gear shift switch is set to the correct mode (R, M, or P) for your device.
  • Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your target device.
  • If the Free3 has entered deep sleep mode, press any key to wake it up. It should automatically reconnect.
