4. Setup

The BWHS-25L scanner offers three primary connection methods: USB, 2.4GHz Wireless, and Bluetooth. Choose the method that best suits your needs.

4.1. USB Connection

  1. Connect one end of the provided USB cable to the scanner's port.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. The scanner will be recognized as a HID keyboard device and is ready for use. No additional drivers are typically required.

4.2. 2.4GHz Wireless Connection

  1. Plug the 2.4GHz USB wireless dongle into an available USB port on your computer.
  2. Turn on the scanner. It should automatically pair with the dongle.
  3. The scanner is now ready for wireless operation. The indoor transmission distance is approximately 30 meters, and outdoor up to 100 meters.

4.3. Bluetooth Connection

  1. Ensure your host device (computer, laptop) has Bluetooth enabled.
  2. Turn on the scanner and put it into Bluetooth pairing mode (refer to the scanner's quick start guide for specific button presses if needed).
  3. On your host device, search for new Bluetooth devices and select the BWHS-25L scanner.
  4. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process. The indoor transmission distance is approximately 10 meters.

Compatibility Note: The scanner is compatible with Windows XP, 7, 8, 10, Mac OS, and Linux systems. It is generally not compatible with iPad or mobile phones for direct scanning functionality.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Basic Scanning

  1. Ensure the scanner is powered on and connected to your host device via USB, 2.4GHz wireless, or Bluetooth.
  2. Open a text editor, spreadsheet, or any application where you want the scanned data to appear.
  3. Point the scanner's window at the barcode you wish to scan.
  4. Press the trigger button. A red scanning light will emit.
  5. Once the barcode is successfully read, the scanner will typically emit a beep and the data will appear in your active application.

7. Troubleshooting

Scanner not connecting:
  • USB: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the scanner and the computer. Try a different USB port.
  • 2.4GHz Wireless: Make sure the USB dongle is plugged in and the scanner is powered on. If it doesn't connect automatically, try re-pairing (refer to the quick start guide for pairing instructions).
  • Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your host device and the scanner is in pairing mode. Remove any previous pairings and try connecting again.
Scanner not reading barcodes:
  • Ensure the barcode is clean, undamaged, and within the scanner's reading range (up to 30cm).
  • Check if the barcode symbology is supported by the scanner (refer to Section 5.2).
  • Verify that the scanning window is clean and free from obstructions.
  • Ensure sufficient lighting for the barcode.
Scanned data appears incorrectly:
  • Check your computer's keyboard layout settings.
  • Ensure the scanner's configuration matches your requirements (e.g., suffix/prefix settings).

8. User Tips

  • For optimal wireless performance, ensure a clear line of sight between the scanner and the 2.4GHz dongle or Bluetooth host device.
  • When scanning, hold the scanner steady and aim the red light directly across the entire barcode for the best read rate.
  • Utilize the adjustable stand for hands-free scanning in stationary applications.
