2.4 AP Mode Setup (Direct Connection)
AP Mode allows your mobile phone to connect directly to the camera's hotspot (like a WiFi signal) to view real-time video and records on the MicroSD card without an internet connection. The effective range is approximately 10 meters.
- Power on the camera.
- Press the reset button for 4 seconds to activate AP mode.
- The camera hotspot will appear for about 1 minute. The hotspot name will be "IPCAM..." (the "..." part matches the middle part of the camera's UID).
- On your phone, go to WiFi settings and connect to the "IPCAM..." network. The default password is "01234567".
- In the GENBOLT CAM app, go to "Add Camera" and select "Search camera from LAN (WIFI DC/POE)".
- The camera's UID (e.g., SSSS-179271-BCFFA) should appear automatically. Select it and confirm.
Note: If using AP mode, you must turn off the "Restart timer" feature. The camera automatically restarts once a week for stable performance. If no network is connected and the timer is active, the camera may not reset to the correct time, affecting video timestamps.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and body.
- Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays directly on the camera.
5.2 Battery Care
- The camera has a built-in rechargeable battery. Charge it regularly to ensure continuous operation, especially if not connected to a constant power source.
- Avoid exposing the camera to extreme temperatures, which can affect battery life.
5.3 Firmware Updates
- Periodically check the GENBOLT CAM app for available firmware updates. Keeping your camera's firmware up-to-date ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
6. Troubleshooting (Q&A)
Q: Why is the time displayed on screen incorrect?
A: The default time area is GMT+8. Please sync the camera with your phone's time or manually select your local time zone and save it in the app. Ensure your mobile phone uses a 24-hour format. Incorrect time settings can cause video file errors.
Q: I'm receiving too many useless motion detection alerts. How can I reduce them?
A: There are two ways to adjust this:
- Turn on "Humanoid Alarm" in the app. This function is triggered only by human shapes, reducing alerts from pets or inanimate objects.
- Adjust the motion detection area and sensitivity level within the app settings.
Q: Why are there no recordings when events happen?
A: Check your recording method settings in the app. There are three options:
- Recording schedule (continuous recording during set times).
- Motion detection recording (records only when motion is detected).
- Both options simultaneously.
Ensure the camera's time is synchronized with your phone's time, as videos are saved according to the camera's internal clock.
Q: I have a dual-band router (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Will this camera work?
A: First, confirm if your camera supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. If it only supports 2.4GHz, connect it to the 2.4GHz WiFi signal. If it supports both, you can connect to either signal. However, if a 2.4GHz-only camera is connected to a 5GHz network (e.g., via a LAN cable to a 5GHz router) and the LAN cable is unplugged, the camera will go offline.
Q: I changed my router and now cannot connect the camera. What should I do?
A: Make sure the new router's network name (SSID) and password are exactly the same as your old router's. The camera should then connect automatically.
7. User Tips
- Optimize Motion Detection: To avoid excessive alerts, utilize the "Humanoid Alarm" feature and fine-tune the motion detection sensitivity and area in the app.
- Time Synchronization: Always ensure your camera's time is synchronized with your phone to prevent issues with video timestamps and recording schedules.
- Battery Management: For continuous operation, especially in areas without constant power, regularly check and charge the camera's built-in battery.
- Network Stability: If using a dual-band router, ensure your camera is connected to the appropriate 2.4GHz network for optimal compatibility and stability.
