This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, and maintenance of your new device.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The MF17 keyboard requires one AAA battery for operation. The battery compartment is located on the back of the keyboard.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the keyboard.
  2. Remove the cover.
  3. Insert one AAA battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover.

2. Connecting the Keyboard

The MF17 supports two wireless connection modes: 2.4G Wireless and Bluetooth.

2.1. 2.4G Wireless Mode

  1. Locate the 2.4G wireless receiver stored in the battery compartment on the back of the keyboard.
  2. Plug the 2.4G receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Slide the mode switch on the top edge of the keyboard to the '2.4G' position.
  4. The keyboard should automatically connect to your device.

2.2. Bluetooth Mode

  1. Slide the mode switch on the top edge of the keyboard to the 'BT' position.
  2. On your device (computer, laptop, tablet, or phone), open Bluetooth settings.
  3. Press and hold the 'Fn' key and the 'Enter' key simultaneously on the MF17 keyboard until the indicator light flashes rapidly, indicating pairing mode.
  4. On your device, search for new Bluetooth devices and select 'MF17 Keypad' or similar from the list to pair.
  5. Once paired, the indicator light will stop flashing and remain solid for a few seconds before turning off.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Key Functions

The MF17 features a standard numeric keypad layout with additional function keys:

  • Numeric Keys (0-9): For number input.
  • Arithmetic Operators (+, -, *, /): For calculations.
  • Enter Key: Confirms input.
  • Num Lock Key: Toggles the numeric keypad function. An indicator light shows its status.
  • Esc Key: Escape function.
  • Tab Key: Tab function.
  • Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, Insert, Delete: Navigation and editing keys.

2. Special Functions (Fn Combinations)

The 'Fn' key can be combined with other keys to access additional functionalities:

  • Fn + Esc: Typically functions as a calculator shortcut.
  • Fn + Tab: Can be used for specific data processing functions.

3. Independent Power Switch

The keyboard is equipped with an independent power switch on its side. This allows you to turn off the keyboard when not in use for extended periods, conserving battery life and preventing accidental key presses during transport.

4. Automatic Sleep and Power Saving

  • 2.4G Wireless Mode: The keyboard will automatically enter sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity.
  • Bluetooth Mode: The keyboard will automatically enter sleep mode after 1 hour of inactivity.

Press any key to wake the keyboard from sleep mode.

Maintenance

1. Hot-Swappable Switches

The MF17 features hot-swappable switch sockets, allowing you to easily change switches without soldering. This enables customization of your typing feel. It is compatible with both 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches.

2. Keycap Care

The MF17 comes with high-purity PBT dye-sublimation keycaps, known for their durability and resistance to shine over time. To clean, gently remove keycaps and wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.

3. General Cleaning

Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keys. For surface cleaning, use a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.

Troubleshooting

1. Keyboard Not Responding

  • Ensure the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • Check that the mode switch is in the correct position (2.4G or BT).
  • For 2.4G mode, ensure the receiver is securely plugged into a USB port. Try a different USB port.
  • For Bluetooth mode, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the keyboard is paired. Try re-pairing the device.
  • Turn the keyboard off and on using the independent power switch.

2. Connectivity Issues

  • Move the keyboard closer to your device to rule out range issues.
  • Avoid interference from other wireless devices (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, other Bluetooth devices).
  • If using 2.4G, ensure the receiver is not obstructed.

3. Keys Not Registering

  • Check if the Num Lock is enabled if you are trying to use the numeric functions.
  • If a specific key is not working, it might be a faulty switch. Due to the hot-swappable design, you can replace individual switches.
