4. Operating the Z4 Drone
4.1 Powering On and Pairing
- Place the drone on a flat, level surface.
- Press and hold the power button on the drone until indicator lights illuminate.
- Power on the remote control.
- The drone and remote control should automatically pair. If not, refer to the remote control's specific pairing instructions (usually involves moving the left joystick up then down, or a dedicated pairing button).
4.2 Takeoff and Landing
The Z4 Drone supports one-click takeoff and landing for ease of use.
Figure 4.1: One-Click Takeoff/Landing
- One-Click Takeoff: Press the designated one-click takeoff button on the remote control. The drone will automatically ascend to a stable hovering height.
- One-Click Landing: Press the designated one-click landing button. The drone will slowly descend and land automatically.
- Manual Control: For manual takeoff, push both joysticks outwards and downwards to start the motors, then gently push the left joystick up to ascend. For manual landing, gently pull the left joystick down to descend.
4.3 Flight Controls
Familiarize yourself with the remote control's joysticks and buttons for precise flight.
- Left Joystick: Controls altitude (up/down) and rotation (yaw left/right).
- Right Joystick: Controls forward/backward movement and left/right side flying.
- Headless Mode: Activate headless mode for simplified control, where the drone's orientation doesn't matter; it will always move relative to the pilot's position.
- Optical Flow Positioning: The drone utilizes optical flow for stable hovering, especially useful in indoor environments or areas with clear ground patterns.
- Trajectory Flight: Use the companion app to draw a desired flight path, and the drone will follow it automatically.
4.4 Camera Operation
The Z4 Drone features a dual camera system for versatile aerial photography.
Figure 4.2: Dual Camera System
- Front Camera: High-definition 4K/8K camera with an electrically adjustable wide-angle lens. Use the remote control to adjust the camera angle up and down during flight.
- Bottom Camera: Provides an alternative perspective, useful for optical flow positioning and different shot compositions.
- EIS Electronic Image Stabilization: Helps achieve stable and clear photos and videos.
- 50X Digital Zoom: Utilize the zoom function via the remote control or app for detailed shots.
- Gesture Photography: Perform specific hand gestures (refer to the app or remote control guide for specific gestures) to trigger photo capture.
- Image Transmission: Real-time flight images are displayed on the remote control's 4.3-inch screen via 5G transmission.
4.5 Intelligent Obstacle Avoidance
The Z4 Drone is equipped with multi-directional obstacle perception detection to enhance flight safety.
Figure 4.3: Intelligent Obstacle Avoidance in action
When obstacles are detected, the drone will automatically brake and stop flying, effectively avoiding collisions and falls. Always maintain visual line of sight and be prepared to take manual control.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the drone's body and camera lens.
- Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents that could damage electronic components.
- Ensure no dust or debris obstructs the motors or sensors.
5.2 Battery Care
- Always use the provided USB charging cable.
- Do not overcharge or completely discharge the battery.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If the drone will not be used for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% before storage.
5.3 Propeller Inspection and Replacement
- Regularly inspect propellers for any signs of damage (cracks, bends, chips).
- Damaged propellers can affect flight stability and safety. Replace them immediately using the spare fan blades and screwdriver provided.
- Ensure replacement propellers are installed correctly (matching A to A, B to B, etc.).

6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Drone does not power on | Battery not charged or incorrectly installed. | Ensure battery is fully charged and correctly inserted. |
| Drone does not respond to remote control | Not paired, out of range, or remote control battery low. | Re-pair the drone and remote. Ensure within 100m range. Check remote control battery. |
| Unstable flight or drifting | Propellers damaged, drone not calibrated, or strong wind. | Inspect and replace damaged propellers. Perform flight calibration (refer to remote control guide). Avoid flying in strong winds. |
| Poor image quality or no video feed | Camera lens dirty, poor signal, or memory card issues. | Clean camera lens. Ensure drone is within 5G image transmission range. Check memory card for proper insertion and sufficient space. |
| Obstacle avoidance not working | Sensors obstructed or in an environment with poor light/complex patterns. | Ensure sensors are clean and unobstructed. Obstacle avoidance may be less effective in certain conditions. |
