1. Introduction

The Makita DTW600 is a versatile 18V brushless electric impact wrench designed for a wide range of applications, including tightening screws, shelf installation, tire disassembly, and other industrial tasks. 2. Safety Warnings

Always read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this power tool. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

  • Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Electrical Safety: This tool is battery-powered. Ensure the battery pack is compatible with the tool and charged using the correct charger. Do not handle battery packs or tools with wet hands.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The DTW600 impact wrench operates with an 18V Li-ion battery (not included). Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.

  1. Align the battery pack with the battery slot on the bottom of the tool handle.
  2. Slide the battery pack into the slot until it clicks securely into place.
  3. To remove the battery, press the Battery Pack Release Button (see Figure 2) and slide the battery out.

3.2 Attaching Accessories (2-in-1 Chuck)

The DTW600 features a versatile 2-in-1 chuck, accommodating both 1/2" square drive sockets and 1/4" inner hexagon bits.

  1. For 1/2" Square Drive Sockets: Simply push the socket onto the square drive until it locks into place.
  2. For 1/4" Inner Hexagon Bits: Insert the hex bit into the inner hexagon opening of the chuck until it is firmly seated.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Forward and Reverse Switch

The tool is equipped with a forward/reverse switch to control the rotation direction.

  • Push the switch to the left for Forward Rotation to tighten screws.
  • Push the switch to the right for Reverse Rotation to loosen screws.
  • Position the switch in the center to lock the trigger and prevent accidental startup.

4.2 Speed and Torque Control

The DTW600 offers variable speed and torque control, allowing you to adjust the power output for different tasks. The tool can deliver up to 500 N.m of torque.

  • Low Torque (e.g., 0N - 200N): Ideal for tightening delicate screws or light assembly tasks.
  • Medium Torque (e.g., 200N - 500N): Suitable for shelf installation and general fastening.
  • High Torque (e.g., 500N and above): Best for heavy-duty applications like tire disassembly and industrial fastening.

4.3 Built-in LED Light

The tool features a built-in LED light that illuminates the work area, making it suitable for working in dark or poorly lit conditions.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Keep the tool clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

  • Storage: Store the tool in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children. Remove the battery pack before storing for extended periods.
