1. Product Overview
The DEWIN DEWD9L-R is an advanced AC 220V 2P 30mA Auto Recloser Circuit Breaker designed to provide comprehensive electrical protection. This smart electric circuit breaker (RCBO/MCB) automatically detects and responds to electrical faults such as leakage, overload, and short circuits. Its unique auto-reclosing function ensures continuous power supply by automatically resetting after a temporary fault, significantly reducing downtime and the need for manual intervention, especially in unattended environments.
2. Key Features
- Automatic Reclosing: Automatically recloses when the MCB/RCCB trips due to a fault, eliminating manual resets.
- Comprehensive Protection: Provides leakage protection (30mA), overload protection, and short circuit protection.
- Intelligent Fault Detection: Detects faults and attempts reclosing up to three times within a specified interval.
- Manual/Auto Selection: Equipped with a switch to select between manual and automatic operating modes.
- Mechanical/Electronic Dual-Locking: Enhances safety and reliability.
- Status Indicator: LED indicator shows the working status of the device.
- Durable Construction: Made from PC + copper for long machine and electrical lifespan.
- Easy Installation: Designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting.
3. Product Components
Familiarize yourself with the main components of the DEWD9L-R circuit breaker:
- Leakage Switch: Button for testing the leakage protection function.
- Status Indicator (PWR LED): Indicates the power status and operational mode.
- Product Number: Identifies the model as DEWD9L-R.
- Working Mode Selection: A slider switch to choose between 'AUTO' (automatic reclosing) and 'MANU' (manual operation).
- Locking Device: Secures the operating handle in position.
- Operating Handle: Used for manual ON/OFF and resetting the breaker.
4. Installation
Safety Warning: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Ensure all power is disconnected before installation to prevent electric shock.
4.1 Mounting
The DEWD9L-R circuit breaker is designed for installation on a standard 35mm DIN rail.
- Ensure the DIN rail is securely mounted within the electrical panel.
- Align the circuit breaker with the DIN rail and press firmly until it clicks into place.
- Verify that the breaker is firmly attached and does not wobble.
4.2 Wiring Diagram
Connect the power line and load line according to the diagram below. Pay close attention to the 'N' (Neutral) and 'L' (Live) terminals.
- Connect the incoming neutral wire to the 'N' terminal on the power line side.
- Connect the incoming live wire to the 'L' terminal on the power line side.
- Connect the outgoing neutral wire to the 'N' terminal on the load line side.
- Connect the outgoing live wire to the 'L' terminal on the load line side.
- Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Initial Power-Up
- After installation and wiring, ensure the working mode selection switch is set to 'MANU' (Manual).
- Turn on the main power supply to the circuit breaker.
- Manually push the operating handle to the 'ON' position. The PWR LED should illuminate.
5.2 Selecting Operating Mode
The DEWD9L-R offers two operating modes:
- Manual Mode (MANU): In this mode, if the breaker trips due to a fault, it must be manually reset by pushing the operating handle.
- Automatic Reclosing Mode (AUTO): In this mode, if the breaker trips, it will automatically attempt to reclose after a set interval. This is ideal for situations where immediate manual intervention is not possible.
To switch modes, use the slider switch labeled 'AUTO' and 'MANU' on the front of the device (refer to Figure 2).
5.3 Automatic Reclosing Sequence
When in 'AUTO' mode and a fault (leakage, overload, or short circuit) causes the breaker to trip, the device initiates an automatic reclosing sequence:
- The breaker trips, cutting off power.
- After an initial delay (e.g., 10 seconds), the device attempts to reclose.
- If the fault persists, the breaker trips again. The device will wait for a longer interval (e.g., 60 seconds) before the next reclosing attempt.
- A third attempt will follow an even longer interval (e.g., 300 seconds).
- If the fault is cleared, the breaker remains closed, and power is restored.
- If the fault persists after three reclosing attempts, the breaker will remain tripped, and an auxiliary contact will issue a warning. Manual inspection and reset will then be required.
The timing diagram in Figure 4 illustrates this sequence: Power-on delay is 2 seconds. Reclosing attempts occur after 10s, 60s, and 300s if the fault persists. Closing times are cleared if no tripping or manual reset occurs within 15 minutes after shutdown.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Monthly Leakage Test
It is recommended to test the leakage protection function monthly to ensure proper operation.
- Ensure the circuit breaker is in the 'ON' position and power is flowing through it.
- Press the 'Test Monthly' button (Leakage switch) on the front of the device (refer to Figure 2).
- The circuit breaker should immediately trip, cutting off power.
- Reset the circuit breaker by pushing the operating handle to 'ON' (or allow it to auto-reclose if in AUTO mode).
- If the breaker does not trip when the test button is pressed, it indicates a malfunction. The device should be inspected and replaced by a qualified technician.
Note: Performing this test will temporarily interrupt power to the connected circuit.
7. Troubleshooting
- Breaker trips frequently:
- Possible Cause: Persistent overload or short circuit in the connected circuit.
- Solution: Disconnect non-essential appliances. Inspect wiring for damage or short circuits. If the issue persists, consult a qualified electrician.
- Breaker trips and does not reclose in AUTO mode:
- Possible Cause: Fault persists after three reclosing attempts, or the fault is severe.
- Solution: Manually inspect the circuit for the cause of the fault. Once the fault is resolved, manually reset the breaker. If it still trips, there might be a continuous issue.
- Breaker does not trip when 'Test Monthly' button is pressed:
- Possible Cause: Malfunction of the leakage protection mechanism.
- Solution: The device is faulty and must be replaced immediately by a qualified electrician.
- PWR LED is off:
- Possible Cause: No power supply to the breaker or internal fault.
- Solution: Check the upstream power supply. If power is present but the LED remains off, the device may be faulty.
