6. Hot-Swappable Switches
The NK61 keyboard features hot-swappable sockets, allowing you to change mechanical switches without soldering. This provides flexibility for customization and repair.
6.1. How to Replace Switches
- Power Off: Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before attempting to remove or install switches.
- Remove Keycap: Use the provided keycap puller to gently remove the keycap from the switch you wish to replace.
- Remove Switch: Use the provided switch puller. Align the puller's prongs with the two clips on the top and bottom of the switch. Squeeze the clips and gently pull the switch straight up and out of the socket.
- Install New Switch: Take your new mechanical switch. Ensure the two metal pins on the bottom of the switch are straight. Align these pins with the holes in the keyboard's PCB socket.
- Press Vertically: Gently press the new switch straight down into the socket until it clicks into place. Ensure it is seated firmly and evenly. Do not force it if it doesn't go in easily; check pin alignment.
- Replace Keycap: Place the keycap back onto the new switch.
The metal sleeve in the hot-swap socket has good elasticity, designed for tens of thousands of insertions and removals without soldering.

- Cable Care: Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the Type-C cable to prevent damage.
- Storage: When not in use, store the keyboard in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Liquid Spills: In case of a liquid spill, immediately disconnect the keyboard from your computer, turn it upside down to drain liquid, and allow it to dry completely before reconnecting.
8. Troubleshooting
- Keyboard not responding:
- Ensure the Type-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer.
- Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port on your computer.
- Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out system-specific issues.
- Restart your computer.
- Keys not registering or double-typing:
- This could indicate a faulty switch. Use the switch puller to remove the problematic switch and replace it with a new one (if available).
- Ensure the switch is fully seated in its socket.
- Clean any debris around the switch.
- RGB lighting not working or inconsistent:
- Check if the lighting is turned off using the FN + Spacebar combination.
