3. Installation and Setup

Before installation, ensure your vehicle's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional.

3.1 Confirm Car Dashboard Type

This head unit is compatible with Honda CRV models from 2012-2016. Please identify your car's dashboard type (A, B, C, or D) to ensure proper wiring harness selection and functionality.

3.2 Wiring Connections

Connect only the plugs suitable for your vehicle. Not all connectors on the vehicle's original plugs need to be connected. After connecting, power on the device to check functionality.

3.3 Retaining Original Features

The head unit is designed to retain many of your vehicle's original features. Compatibility may vary by dashboard type:

  • Steering Wheel Control:
    • Dashboards A, B, C: Three "phone buttons" (red circle in image) are non-functional; other SWC buttons work normally.
    • Dashboard D: Steering wheel buttons are fully supported.

  • Factory Reverse Camera:
    • Dashboard A: The factory reverse camera will display on the original IMID screen, not the Joying head unit. Rewiring or installing a JOYING AR camera is required for display on the head unit.
    • Dashboards B, C, D: The device supports the factory reverse camera.
  • Factory USB:
    • Dashboards A, B, C: Factory USB is not supported.
    • Dashboard D: Factory USB is supported.
  • Factory HDMI Port: Dashboard D does not support the factory HDMI port.
  • Factory Right View Camera: Supported.
  • Factory Amplifier and Subwoofer: Supported.

Important Note: After installation, this device does not support synchronizing the original car's IMID screen information by default.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Initial Power On and System Overview

Upon first power-on, the unit will boot into the Android 13 operating system. The main interface provides access to navigation, entertainment, and third-party applications.

4.2 Navigation and Apps

The unit supports various navigation applications and allows installation of third-party apps from the Google Play Store. Tap the "---" icon to switch to the app's interface. Long press an app icon to manage or switch between applications.

4.3 Bluetooth Connectivity

4.6 Display Modes

4.7 Camera Functions

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your head unit, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the display or finish.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for and install software updates to ensure the system runs efficiently and has the latest features and security patches.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures. While designed for automotive use, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or freezing conditions can affect performance.
  • Connections: Ensure all cables are securely connected. Loose connections can lead to intermittent issues.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your head unit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Check all power connections to ensure they are secure.
    • Verify the vehicle's fuse related to the head unit.
    • Ensure the vehicle's battery is properly connected and charged.
  • No Sound:
    • Check speaker connections.
    • Verify volume settings on the head unit and any connected devices.
    • Ensure the amplifier (if external) is powered on and connected correctly.
  • Screen Not Responding:
    • Perform a soft reset by pressing and holding the power button until the unit restarts.
    • Ensure the screen is clean and free of debris.
  • GPS Signal Issues:
    • Ensure the GPS antenna is properly installed and has a clear line of sight to the sky.
    • Check GPS settings in the Android system.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity Problems:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the head unit and your device.
    • Delete previous pairings and attempt to re-pair the device.
    • Ensure your device is within range.
  • Steering Wheel Controls Not Working (Models A, B, C phone buttons):
    • As noted in Section 3.3, the three "phone buttons" on the steering wheel for Dashboards A, B, and C are non-functional. This is expected behavior.
    • For other SWC buttons, ensure proper wiring and configuration in the system settings.
  • Factory Reverse Camera Not Displaying (Dashboard A):
    • As noted in Section 3.3, for Dashboard A, the factory reverse camera displays on the original IMID screen. To display on the Joying head unit, rewiring or installing a JOYING AR camera is required.

8. Warranty and Support

All JOYING head units are tested thoroughly before shipping and come with a 24-month manufacturer warranty. The warranty does not cover damages resulting from improper installation, accidents, misuse, abuse, incorrect wiring, or operating the unit outside the specified voltage or against the instructions in this manual.

For warranty claims or technical support, please contact your retailer or JOYING customer service. If a product issue arises within one month of purchase, a replacement unit may be provided, with the buyer responsible for return shipping fees. After one month, free repair services are available, with the buyer responsible for return shipping fees. After one year, free repair services are still available, but the buyer is responsible for two-way shipping fees.
