4. Installation Guide

Follow these steps to properly install your Imagebon E2 Dash Cam:

  1. Turn off Car Engine: Ensure your vehicle's engine is completely off before starting installation.
  2. Insert SD Card: Insert a high-speed Class 10 or higher SD card (8GB minimum, 128GB maximum) into the dash cam's TF card slot.
  3. Fix the Smart Screen: Mount the dash cam unit securely on the center console of your car using the provided bracket (telescopic or adhesive mount).
  4. Connect Power: Insert the car charger into your car's cigarette lighter socket. If you have an OBD version, connect it to the OBD interface according to your vehicle's power supply method.
  5. Connect USB Cable: Connect the USB port of the dash cam to the car charger using the charging extension cable. Route the cable neatly along the edge of the windshield to avoid obstruction.
  6. Install Rear Camera (Optional):

    Install the rear camera on the rear of your vehicle. Pay attention to the correct orientation. Route the camera cable along the roof of the vehicle and connect the rear plug to the dash cam's AV IN (Earphone Jack) port. For reversing function, connect the red wire of the rear camera cable to your car's backup light positive (+).

    • Host connector Camera Connector: Connects to the main unit.
    • Red Connect with Back-Up Light +: Connect this red wire to the positive (+) terminal of your car's reverse light.
    • Camera Connector: Connects to the rear camera.
    • Rear Camera Jack Pinout: 1. 5V, 2. AHD, 3. Reversing signal, 4. GND.

    Warning: Due to different car models, professional installation is recommended for the rear camera wiring. Incorrect wiring can damage the recorder. This method is for reference only.

  7. Adjust Lens Position: Ensure the dash cam lens is level with the ground for optimal recording.
  8. Start Engine and Check: Start your car's engine. The dash cam should power on, and the system working indicator light will illuminate. The device will enter recording mode, and the recording indicator light will flash. Verify that the display screen shows a normal, non-inverted image.

5. Operation

This section details the various functions and how to operate your Imagebon E2 Dash Cam.

5.1. Power Key

  • Power On/Off: In the off state, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn on the device. In the power-on state, press and hold for 3 seconds to automatically save the video file and shut down.
  • Display Backlight Control: Short press the power button to enter screen saver (HUD) mode. Short press again to sleep and turn off the backlight. Short press a third time to light up the screen.
  • Reset Key: If the recorder crashes, locate the reset hole on the back of the fuselage and short press it. Reconnect power to return to normal operation.

5.2. Screensaver and Hibernation

The device automatically enters screen saver mode after one minute of no operation. You can modify the screen saver time in Settings > Display > Screen Saver. The default hibernation mode is off. If both screensaver and hibernation are enabled, the screensaver will activate first.

5.3. Main Interface Functions

From the main interface, you can access various applications and settings:

  • Navigation: Tap the "Navigation" icon to enter the default map application. Long press to access the navigation application interface and select a different navigation app.
  • File: Tap the "File" icon to enter the file manager, allowing you to copy, paste, delete, and manage files.
  • Mirror Link: Tap the "Mirror Link" icon to activate the wireless projection function, mirroring your smartphone screen to the dash cam.
  • CarPlay: Tap the "CarPlay" icon to access CarPlay functions for iOS mobile phones.
  • Android Auto: Tap the "Android Auto" icon to access Android Auto functions for Android mobile phones.
  • Camera: Tap the "DVR" icon to open the full-screen streaming media rearview mirror preview.
  • Audio Out: Tap the "Audio Out" icon to enter the audio method selection page.

5.3.1. Audio Output Modes

  1. Native Audio: Use the switch next to "Native Audio" to control whether the built-in speaker outputs audio.
  2. AUX Audio: (Note: This function is not available for the 6.86 inch version.) Ensure the device's AUX cable and the car's AUX cable are inserted. The car's audio input must be switched to AUX.
  3. FM Audio (FM Transmitter):
    • Tap the switch next to "FM Audio" to enable FM mode.
    • Tap the "More Settings" button to enter the FM page and adjust the FM frequency.
    • Ensure your car's FM radio is turned on.
    • Manually adjust the frequency on the dash cam. Then, tune your car's FM radio to an empty frequency band with no sound, and match it to the frequency set on the dash cam. The FM function will then work.
  4. BT Audio (Bluetooth Audio):
    • Tap the switch next to "BT Audio" to enable BT Audio mode.
    • Ensure Native Audio is turned on.
    • Tap the "More Settings" button to enter the Bluetooth page and connect with your car's Bluetooth.

5.3.2. Multimedia Playback

(Note: The 6.86 inch version does not have U disk local playback function.)

Tap the "Multimedia" icon to access the U disk interface, where you can play videos, listen to music, and view images.

  • Video: Supports MP4, MOV, 3GP, MKV, FLV, WMV, VOB, RMVB, MPG. Does not support 2K and 4K resolution videos.
  • Music: Supports MP3, OGG, AAC, FLAC, WAV. Does not support WMA, APE.
    • If music is playing and the device is turned off, it will automatically play upon next power-on.
    • If music is paused and the device is turned off, it will remain paused upon next power-on.
  • Picture: Supports JPG, BMP.

5.3.3. App Management

  • Applist: Tap the "Applist" icon to enter the application interface, where you can find more installed apps.
  • Spotify: Tap the "Music" icon (Spotify logo) to enter the Spotify music function.
  • YouTube: Tap the "YouTube" icon to open YouTube for video and music functions.
  • Google Store: Tap the "Google Store" icon. Register and log in to your Google account to download apps.

5.3.4. Navigation Bar

  • Tap the "Navigation Bar" icon to open the historical APP list. Swipe left and right to clear running apps in the background. Tap "CLEAR ALL" to clear all current apps.

5.3.5. Settings

Tap the "Settings" icon to enter the system settings interface, where you can adjust various parameters:

  • Wireless Data:
    • WiFi Switch: Tap the WiFi icon in the WLAN column to quickly turn on/off WiFi. The system scans for networks; tap a network name to connect.
    • Hotspot Switch, GPS Positioning Switch.
    • Bluetooth Switch: Connect the car's Bluetooth.
    • CarPlay Auto Connection Switch: If disconnected, it will not automatically reconnect to CarPlay.
  • Screen Control: Adjust brightness, screen saver time, day/night mode.
  • Others: SPK switch (ON: car sound, OFF: no sound), FM switch, volume adjustment, rear camera mirror flip (adjust left/right position of camera picture).
  • Split Function: Long press the "Split Screen" icon to activate split-screen mode, allowing two applications (e.g., Audio and Map) to run simultaneously.
  • Network & Internet: Manage Wi-Fi and hotspot settings.
  • Apps & Notifications: Manage installed applications, including viewing downloaded apps, apps in internal storage, running apps, and uninstalling/installing programs.
  • Storage: View total capacity, available space, and used space of application storage or data storage. If a TF card or USB device is inserted, its space will also be displayed.
  • System:
    • Language & Input: Set system language and input method.
    • Date & Time: Set date, time, time zone, 24-hour format. You can choose to automatically determine date/time or set manually.
    • Reset Options: Reset WLAN, mobile data network, Bluetooth settings, or application preferences.
  • About Device: View system information such as system upgrade status, device name, IP address, WLAN MAC address, product model, Android version, firmware version, kernel version, and processor type.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Imagebon E2 Dash Cam, please follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and exterior of the device. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the surface.
  • Temperature: Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures (outside -30°C to +70°C) for extended periods.
  • Storage: When not in use for a long time, store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for and install OTA (Over-The-Air) system updates to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes.
  • SD Card Management: Periodically format your SD card (at least once a month) to prevent data corruption and ensure continuous recording. Back up important footage before formatting.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Imagebon E2 Dash Cam, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Device Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the car charger is properly connected to the cigarette lighter and the dash cam.
    • Check if the car's power outlet is working.
    • Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn on.
  • Device Crashes or Freezes:
    • Locate the reset hole on the back of the device and short press it with a thin object (e.g., a paperclip). Reconnect power.
    • Press and hold the power button for 9 seconds to force a restart.
  • Rear Camera Image Inverted or Not Displaying:
    • Check all rear camera cable connections.
    • Ensure the rear camera is installed in the correct orientation.
    • In settings, check the "Rear camera mirror flip" option to adjust the image orientation.
    • If the issue persists, professional installation for the rear camera wiring may be required.
  • No Audio Output:
    • Check the volume settings on the dash cam and your car's audio system.
    • Ensure the correct audio output mode (Native, FM, Bluetooth) is selected and configured properly.
    • If using FM, ensure the dash cam and car radio are tuned to the same clear frequency.
    • If using AUX (if applicable to your model), ensure both AUX cables are securely connected and your car's audio input is set to AUX.
  • GPS Not Working:
    • Ensure the GPS antenna is properly connected and placed in an area with a clear view of the sky.
    • Check GPS settings in the system menu.
  • WiFi/Bluetooth Connectivity Issues:
    • Ensure WiFi/Bluetooth is enabled in the settings.
    • Try restarting the dash cam and your smartphone.
    • Forget and re-pair Bluetooth devices.
  • U Disk Playback Not Working (6.86 inch version):
    • Please note that the 6.86 inch version of this device does not support U disk local playback functionality.

Important: Do not attempt to operate the dash cam if it is malfunctioning or displaying a "fault" message. Do not squeeze the dash cam forcefully.

8. User Tips

  • For optimal performance of CarPlay/Android Auto, ensure your smartphone's operating system is up to date.
  • When using the FM transmitter, selecting an unused radio frequency will provide the clearest audio quality.
  • To maintain privacy and security, regularly review and manage app permissions in the device settings.
  • Utilize the split-screen function for enhanced multitasking, such as having navigation and music displayed simultaneously.
