4.1 Guide Bar and Chain Installation:

Follow these steps to install the guide bar and chain:

Chainsaw guide bar and chain installation steps

  1. Remove the bar nuts and the black washer from the chainsaw body.
  2. Lift the chain over the sprocket.
  3. Mount the guide bar and carefully place the chain into the guide bar groove. Ensure the chain direction is correct.
  4. Insert the adjustment pin into the corresponding hole on the guide bar.
  5. Screw on the bar nuts loosely to secure the guide bar.
  6. Adjust the saw chain tension by tightening clockwise until the chain is snug but can still be pulled freely by hand.
  7. Test the saw chain tension. It should not sag from the guide bar but should still be able to move smoothly.
  8. Tighten the bar nuts firmly with the provided tool.

4.2 Fuel and Oil Mixture:

This chainsaw uses a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific fuel-to-oil mixture. Always use fresh, high-quality unleaded gasoline and a good quality 2-stroke engine oil.

  • Fuel/Oil Mixing Ratio: 25:1 (25 parts gasoline to 1 part 2-stroke engine oil).
  • Mix the fuel and oil thoroughly in a separate, approved fuel container before adding it to the chainsaw's fuel tank.
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 230ml.

Additionally, the chainsaw requires lubricating oil for the chain. Manually add lubricating engine oil to the designated oil reservoir to ensure proper chain lubrication during operation.

5. Operating Instructions

Once assembled and fueled, you can proceed with starting and operating your chainsaw.

5.1 Starting the Engine:

Follow these steps for a quick and easy start:

Chainsaw startup steps

Image: Visual guide for chainsaw startup procedure.

  1. Turn the start switch upwards.
  2. Pull the damper (choke) outwards.
  3. Pull the starter cord 2-3 times. Listen for the engine to make a 'banging' sound, indicating it's trying to start. If it doesn't make this sound, it will not start.
  4. Close the damper (choke) by pushing it back in. Pull the start handle 1-3 more times. The engine should now start and run normally.

5.2 Cutting Techniques:

  • Always ensure a stable stance and firm grip on the chainsaw.
  • Start cutting with the chain running at full speed.
  • Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar to prevent kickback.
  • Be aware of falling branches and logs. Plan your cuts carefully.

5.3 Stopping the Engine:

To stop the chainsaw, simply push the start switch downwards to the 'OFF' position.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.

  • Chain Sharpening: A sharp chain is crucial for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly with a suitable file (included).
  • Chain Tension: Check chain tension frequently. A loose chain can derail, and a too-tight chain can cause excessive wear.
  • Air Filter: Clean the air filter after every few hours of operation or when it appears dirty. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean or replace it if it's fouled or worn.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the chainsaw clean from sawdust, debris, and oil residue. Pay attention to cooling fins and air intakes.
  • Storage: When storing the chainsaw for an extended period, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the chainsaw thoroughly and store it in a dry, safe place.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Engine won't startNo fuel, incorrect fuel mixture, clogged fuel filter, fouled spark plug, choke not set correctly.Check fuel level and mixture. Clean/replace fuel filter. Clean/replace spark plug. Ensure choke is used correctly during startup.
Loss of power during operationDull chain, clogged air filter, incorrect chain tension.Sharpen chain. Clean air filter. Adjust chain tension.
Chain not moving or moving slowlyIncorrect chain tension, brake engaged, lack of chain lubrication.Adjust chain tension. Disengage chain brake. Check and refill chain oil reservoir.
Excessive vibrationLoose components, damaged chain/guide bar.Check all nuts and bolts for tightness. Inspect chain and guide bar for damage and replace if necessary.

9. User Tips

  • Always use fresh fuel mixture. Stale fuel can cause starting problems and engine damage.
  • Keep your chain sharp. A sharp chain cuts more efficiently, reduces strain on the engine, and is safer to use.
  • Regularly check the chain oil level. Running without proper lubrication will quickly damage the chain and guide bar.
  • For easier starting in colder weather, ensure the choke is fully engaged and disengaged at the correct time as per the startup steps.
  • When cutting, let the chainsaw do the work. Don't force it, as this can lead to kickback or damage the engine.
