6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, please refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

  • No Display/Signal:
    • Check all DisplayPort cable connections between the PCs, KVM switch, and monitor. Ensure they are securely plugged in.
    • Verify that the KVM switch is powered on and the correct input (PC 1 or PC 2) is selected.
    • Test the DisplayPort cables directly between the PC and monitor to rule out cable issues.
    • Ensure your monitor is set to the correct DisplayPort input.
  • Keyboard/Mouse Not Responding:
    • Ensure the USB cables from your PCs to the KVM switch are properly connected.
    • Try connecting the keyboard and mouse to different USB ports on the KVM switch.
    • Restart the connected computers.
    • Ensure the KVM switch has sufficient power.
  • Peripherals Not Detected:
    • Check the USB connections for the affected peripheral.
    • Try connecting the peripheral directly to the computer to confirm it is functional.
    • Ensure the KVM switch is receiving adequate power, especially for power-hungry USB devices.
  • Intermittent Issues:
    • Ensure all cables are of good quality and within recommended lengths.
    • Check for any potential electromagnetic interference from other devices.
    • Try using a dedicated 5V power adapter for the KVM switch if you are currently powering it from a PC USB port.

8. User Tips

  • Cable Quality: For optimal performance, especially with 8K@60Hz resolution, use high-quality DisplayPort 1.4 cables and USB 3.0 cables. Lower quality or longer cables can sometimes lead to signal degradation or connectivity issues.
  • Power Supply: While the KVM switch can often draw power from a connected PC, using a dedicated 5V power adapter (connected to the Mini USB 'CONTROL' port) is recommended for stability, especially when multiple power-hungry USB peripherals are connected.
  • Boot Order: If you experience issues with peripherals not being recognized after a PC reboot, try switching to the other PC input and then back to the desired PC.
  • Driver Updates: Ensure your graphics drivers and USB drivers on both connected PCs are up to date.
