1. Introduction

The RKHK Wireless Intelligent Temperature Controller (R7/R9 series) is designed for efficient and smart control of gas boiler heating systems. This thermostat features wireless connectivity via 433MHz radio frequency between the controller and receiver, and Wi-Fi connectivity for remote control via smartphone applications. It is compatible with popular smart home platforms such as Tuya APP, Smart Life APP, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Yandex Alice. The thermostat can be powered by USB or AA batteries, offering flexible installation options.

4. Setup & Installation

4.1. Powering the Thermostat

The thermostat controller can be powered in two ways:

  • USB Powered: Connect the provided Type-C USB cable to the thermostat and a suitable power adapter (not included).
  • Battery Powered: Insert 3 x 1.5V AA batteries into the battery compartment. Batteries are not included.

Note: The USB and battery power methods cannot be used simultaneously.

4.2. Receiver Wiring

The receiver must be wired to your gas boiler. Ensure power is disconnected before performing any wiring. Refer to the diagram below for general wiring instructions. For specific wiring details related to your boiler model, always consult your gas boiler's instruction manual.

4.3. Thermostat Placement

The thermostat controller can be placed on a table using its stand or mounted on a wall using the provided plate and screws.

4.4. Pairing the Thermostat with the Receiver

Important: The temperature controller and receiver must be matched before use.

5. Operation

5.1. Thermostat Display Icons

Familiarize yourself with the icons on the thermostat display:

  • Heating On: Indicates the heating system is active.
  • Wi-Fi: Shows Wi-Fi connection status.
  • Battery Power: Displays current battery level.
  • Mode Switch: Toggles between different operating modes.
  • Period: Indicates the current programmed period.
  • Child Lock: Shows if the child lock feature is active.
  • Power On/Off: Power status of the thermostat.
  • Time: Current time.
  • Manual/Auto Mode: Indicates whether the thermostat is in manual or automatic mode.
  • Complete: (Context-dependent, often indicates a completed action or setting)
  • Room Temperature: Current detected room temperature.
  • Week: Current day of the week.

5.2. Adjusting Backlight

To adjust the brightness of the thermostat's backlight, simply rotate the outer ring of the device.

5.3. Child Lock

The child lock feature prevents accidental or unauthorized changes to the thermostat settings. You can enable or disable the child lock easily through the companion app. Alternatively, you can activate it by long-pressing the power button on the thermostat while it is powered on.

6. App Control & Voice Control

6.1. App Control

The thermostat is compatible with the Smart Life and Tuya Smart applications. Download either app from your smartphone's app store, register an account, and follow the in-app instructions to add your thermostat. Once connected, you can remotely monitor and adjust your room temperature from anywhere.

6.2. Voice Control

Integrate your thermostat with voice assistants for convenient control. The device works with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Yandex Alice. Once linked through the respective smart home app, you can use voice commands such as "Alexa, set kitchen to 26°C" to adjust your heating.

7. Programming

The thermostat allows for programmable heating schedules to match your lifestyle. You can set different temperatures for various time periods throughout the day and week directly within the Smart Life or Tuya app. The app also allows for customization of icons for each period.

8. Maintenance

8.1. Frost Protection

To protect your indoor appliances and the thermostat itself from freezing, the device includes a frost protection feature. When activated, it will maintain the room temperature above 5°C. This function can be turned on or off via the companion app.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Thermostat not responding to Receiver: Ensure the temperature controller and receiver have been properly paired. Refer to Section 4.4 for pairing instructions.
  • No heating/cooling: Verify that the receiver is correctly wired to the gas boiler and receiving power (220V AC). Check your boiler's manual for specific wiring requirements.
  • Wi-Fi connectivity issues: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4G and the thermostat is within range. Restart your router and the thermostat if necessary.
  • Inaccurate temperature readings: Ensure the thermostat is placed in an optimal location, away from direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources that could affect its sensor.

10. User Tips

  • Battery Life: If using AA batteries, consider using high-quality alkaline batteries for longer life. Monitor the battery power indicator on the display or in the app.
  • Optimal Placement: For the most accurate temperature readings and effective control, place the thermostat in a central location in the room, away from windows, doors, and direct heat sources.
  • App Notifications: Enable notifications in the Smart Life or Tuya app to receive alerts regarding temperature changes, low battery, or connectivity issues.
