4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The HT73 requires 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries (not included). To install:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Probe Installation/Removal
The HT73 comes with removable probes for easy replacement.
- To install or replace probes, use the included small wrench.
- Carefully screw the probes into the designated sockets at the top of the meter.
- Ensure they are tightened securely but do not overtighten.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off
- Press the Power Button (
) to turn the device ON. - Press and hold the Power Button to turn the device OFF.
- The device will automatically shut down after 10 minutes of inactivity.
5.2 Selecting Material Category
The HT73 has 7 built-in material categories. To select the appropriate category for your measurement:
- Press the M Button (Measurement Materials Category Selection Key) to cycle through the 7 material types.
- Ensure the selected category matches the material you are testing for accurate results.

5.3 Taking a Measurement
- Turn on the meter and select the correct material category using the M Button.
- Remove the probe protective cap.
- Carefully insert the two test probes into the material you wish to measure. Ensure both probes penetrate the surface adequately for good contact.
- Read the moisture content directly from the digital display. The analog bar provides a quick visual reference.
- The backlight color will indicate the moisture level: Green (Low), Orange (Moderate), Red (High).
- After measurement, remove the probes and replace the protective cap.



5.4 Data Hold Function
To freeze the current reading on the display:
- Press the MAX HOLD Button once during measurement. The reading will be held.
- Press the MAX HOLD Button again to release the hold function and resume live measurement.
5.5 MAX Measurement
To automatically capture and display the highest moisture reading during a measurement session:
- Press and hold the MAX HOLD Button for a few seconds. The meter will enter MAX measurement mode.
- The display will show the maximum moisture content detected.
- Press and hold the MAX HOLD Button again to exit MAX measurement mode.

5.6 Interpreting Tri-Color Backlight
The HT73's display backlight changes color to provide a quick visual indication of moisture levels:
- Green Backlight: Indicates Low Moisture content.
- Orange Backlight: Indicates Moderate Moisture content.
- Red Backlight: Indicates High Moisture content.


6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- After each use, wipe the probes clean with a dry cloth to remove any residue.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on the device.
- Keep the display screen clean and free from dust.
6.2 Probe Replacement
The stainless steel probes are designed for durability but may wear out or become damaged over time. Use the provided wrench to replace them as described in Section 4.2.

6.3 Storage
- Always replace the probe protective cap after use to prevent damage to the probes and ensure measurement accuracy.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
